"Don't lie to me Lani. I know about you and Oscar breaking up."I said sitting down next to me.
"Yeah we did. But I guess you were right, I got out before I was in too deep. But yet I still feeling like I'm in the deep end."I said letting out a sigh.
"You'll be fine in a few days I promise. First break ups suck."He said putting his arm around me.
"I know Ruby, but this isn't my first relationship. I knew what I was getting into yet I still went in unprepared. I'm not saying that this is my fault but, I should've been more careful."
He immediately got up and stood in front of me. I then realized what I said.
"What are you talking about Leilani?"He shouted.
"Look it was like two years ago and only lasted like 5 months. I didn't tell you because I was scared of what you and the group would think. Plus he wanted to keep things private, so I had to respect that."I said.
"What else have you been hiding?"He looked at me.
At this point my high was starting to get more intense.
So I just looked down knowing I couldn't handle his reaction.
"What else Leilani?"He yelled.
"Why the fuck do you are you always on my ass?"I shouted back.
"Because I want to be there for you! I want to help you with your problems! That's what friends and families do! So what the fuck else have you been hiding?!"He said taking a step back.
"Ruby. I'll explain a lot, a lot later. Cause I can't explain to you right now. But I promise I will eventually. Ight?"I said. At this point I was fucked up. Like if I stood up I'd fall over.
"NO! Leilani that's not how this works. You've been hiding shit from me and the crew for god knows how long. I just want to be here for you. Now let me help you."He said on the verge of tears.
I just shook my head.
He scoffed, "I'm done trying Lani. Stay away from me for good. Don't call me, don't text me, don't even go near my family. Especially my mom."He said starting to walk out of my room.
I was numb, I couldn't feel anything. At that moment there was nothing to fight for, nothing to protect.
"Ru-Ruby."I stuttered.
He turned around as he was half way through my bedroom doorway.
"I- I love you mano."I said low.
He let out a deep breath, "I love you too mana."That was the last thing we said to each other before he walked away.
That was the first time I had ever said "I love you" to Ruby. I always say "Love you" never I love you. That conversation was going to be engraved in my brain forever.
Time Skip to 2 a.m.
I wasn't high anymore. But I needed to distract myself, I know it's not good to want to get fucked up. But there wasn't anything left I had to protect anymore. I didn't have to keep myself in the dark so I texted one of my friends that I met through Mouse.
Leilani- Any parties tomorrow?
Taty- Damn right. When you coming by?
Leilani- Probably around 2.
Taty- Ight how you getting here cause I know Mouse ain't be taking you places like that no more.
Leilani-You right. Hmm, I guess I'll just have to have someone come pick me up. ;))
Then Tati called me and I answered.
"Girl, how fucked up are you right now?"She said.
"I'm not."I said.
"Whatchu mean you not? Don't nobody no where you live besides Mouse. You don't let nobody come out where you stay at."She said all shocked.
"You right, but shit changed bruh. So now can you come and pick me up tomorrow?"I asked.
"Girrrrrrll."As she was saying that I sent her my addy.
"GIRL! You being deadass!"She shouted.
"Text me or call me when you gonna pick me up, also bring me food. Thank you love."I giggled at the last part.
"Leilani there ain't no way, you being for real."She said still in shock.
"I am. Okay bye now." I said and hung up.
