The end of August finally arrived and Jin was due in a couple of days. He was over it and just wanted their child to arrive already. Of course he was a little upset because he wouldn't actually get to see their son much because they still had to go to school for their senior year.
He was just happy Aeri was gone and he didn't have to deal with her anymore. Jin was currently laying on a lounge chair in the backyard, basking in the warm sun.
If he was gonna lay down, it wasn't gonna be in his bed all day because the weather was perfect. It was hot, but there was a really nice breeze keeping him a little cooled down.
Namjoon noticed Jin outside and decided to go join him, but first, he fixed him a glass of cold lemonade because it was hot outside and was sure Jin needed it.
He stepped outside and walked over to Jin. "Hey." Jin said quietly, taking off his sunglasses so he could have eye contact with Namjoon. He sat up and sighed. "You aren't burning up out here, are you?" Namjoon asked as he handed him the glass of lemonade.
"No, it feels nice." He said and took a sip. "I just wish I could go swimming." Jin pouted as he eyed the pool in front of him. Namjoon chuckled and sat on the lounge chair beside him. "Have you been feeling okay?" Namjoon asked.
"Yeah, I'm just ready to get it over with." Jin said. Namjoon looked around and took in a breath of air. The weather was really nice, and it was peacefully quiet outside as well. He reached over and held Jin's hand.
"I know you are, you're almost there." Namjoon said and gave a comforting smile. "Do you wanna go inside? You've been out here for a while, plus, I wanna cuddle." Namjoon laughed a little. Jin giggled and nodded.
Namjoon helped him up and they went inside, Namjoon hugging the boy as soon as they entered. "N-Namjoon?" Jin giggled at the sudden hug.
"Sorry, I just needed to." Namjoon smiled to himself as Jin hugged back. "Of course." Jin said. Namjoon let go and they went into the living room. Jin slowly sat in the couch, Namjoon sitting beside him.
"Joon?" Jin mumbled, leaning his head against his shoulder. "Hmm?" Namjoon hummed, wrapping his arms around him. "You don't even find it the slightest bit weird that we're stepbrothers?" Jin asked. "No, not really. I don't really think about it that way. I honestly forget half the time until I see our parents together then I'm like 'oh, right...'." Namjoon chuckled.
"So, no, I don't find it weird cause I never think about it that way." Namjoon said. "Do you?" He asked. "No, I honestly forget too. The thought just came to my mind." Jin said and laughed to himself.
"Cutie." Namjoon whispered, leaning over and planting a kiss on his forehead. He placed a hand on Jin's tummy and rubbed it gently. "You haven't felt anything all day, have you?" He asked quietly. "No, just a few kicks and that's all. I'm not due until a couple days from now." Jin reminded. "I was just making sure. He could come earlier." Namjoon chuckled nervously.
"You've been so paranoid all week, you need to calm down, babe." Jin spoke quietly. "I know but it's kind of hard to. I'm excited but also completely clueless of what to do when he gets here." Namjoon said.
"That's why my mom is gonna help us." Jin reminded and Namjoon nodded. Jin opened his mouth to speak but hesitated bringing up the conversation. "What?" Namjoon asked. "Do you think people are still going to bully me this year when I get back?" Jin asked.
"I hope not, and if they do, I won't hesitate to beat them up." Namjoon assured. Jin laughed quietly, looking up into Namjoon's eyes. "I care about you, a lot, and I'm not just gonna let people bully you over something that seriously can't be helped." Namjoon added.
Jin leaned in and kissed him gently, Namjoon smiling a bit in the kiss. Jin pulled away and Namjoon cupped his face with a hand gently. "I love you, so so much. Don't think for a second this a bad thing and it's your fault. I'm genuinely happy this is happening." Namjoon said sincerely.
"I love you too." Jin smiled, resting his head back upon Namjoon's shoulder.
...
Later that night, around 11:00 pm is when Jin woke up to stomach cramps. He just assumed it was what he ate so he tried going to the bathroom, but that didn't make a difference. He laid back down beside Namjoon, thinking maybe it was just normal stomach cramps because he's had a few some days before. Attempting to go back to sleep, he closed his eyes and it went away, only for a another one to come back after about five minutes. And that kept happening for almost and hour before Jin realized it was probably time to go to the hospital.
He sat up and gently shook Namjoon awake. "What?" Namjoon murmured, eyes still closed. "Joon, I t-think it's time." Jin said, reality starting to kick in that he was actually having a child.
Namjoon's eyes opened. "Are you sure?" He asked and Jin nodded, suddenly getting scared. Namjoon got up and started getting their stuff ready. "Well, go tell mom so we can go." Namjoon said.
Jin got up and walked downstairs slowly, the pain worsening. He hated it already. He entered their parent's room, his mother asleep on the bed. Sadly, Namjoon's dad couldn't be there because he was on a business trip for some weeks but he wished Jin the best of luck when it did happen.
"Mom?" Jin woke her up. "What? Are you okay? Is it time?" She asked and Jin hummed quietly. "Alrighty then, we should get going, huh?" She sighed with a small laugh.
The car ride to the hospital was quiet and almost peaceful, but Jin was nervous and his contractions were painful. Namjoon was seated beside him and holding his hand, Jin squeezing it every now and then.
"Are you okay?" He asked, Jin not sure how to answer that. "I don't know, it h-hurts." He murmured. "I'm sorry in advance, I'm gonna ask you that a lot." Namjoon laughed a little, lightening the mood a bit.
When they arrived at the hospital, Jin was taken to a room and was changed into some hospital clothes before laying on the bed. Some nurses had helped connect him to a hydration IV a vital monitor, trying not to cry in the process. His doctor was explaining some things to his mother and Namjoon but Jin was too blanked out to hear what she was saying.
She left the room and Jin's mother sighed quietly. "I'm s-scared." Jin murmured, finally letting the tears go. "Aww, baby don't cry. Don't be scared." Namjoon leaned down and kissed his forehead, caressing his face and wiping the tears away.
"You're gonna do just fine and everything's going to be okay, I promise. I'm gonna be right here with you the whole time, okay?" Namjoon spoke softly and Jin nodded, feeling a little bit more at ease.
After a while, Jin's mother had drifted back to sleep but Namjoon pretty much couldn't go back to sleep because he was too concerned about Jin. It wasn't really nice to see the boy in pain at all.
Jin wouldn't be ready to actually have their child until sometime tomorrow morning into the afternoon, which upset him because he was in pain and just wanted to go to sleep.
It was pretty silent in the room, the only sound was the tv on very low volume and Jin's quiet sniffles as he began to cry again. "Joon~" He whimpered, Namjoon walking over to the bed and holding Jin's hand, caressing his face with his other.
"I don't l-like it, it h-hurts so much." Jin hiccuped. "I know, I know it does but it's gonna be okay, I promise." Namjoon said softly.
"Don't cry, baby. I'm here." He comforted, the boy's tears subsiding after a while. He leaned down and kissed his forehead. "I love you, okay? You're doing just fine." Namjoon assured. "I love you too." Jin hummed quietly, happy that Namjoon had been by his side this entire time. He loved him so much for that.
