"so, why don't you want me to go?" i say sitting next to Mariano.
he scoffed, "really?" he asked not looking at me.
"i'm serious man, why don't you want me to go"
"you're going back to see him" Mar said looking at me
"and i don't know how i feel about that" he added
"do you think i'm going to do something with him" i ask
"yeah" he said sternly
"Mar" i laugh
"we are practically married, i mean, we are raising our son together" i say grabbing his arm
"our son" i added, "he knows you as his dad okay?"
Mariano took a deep breath, "mhm"
"Mar, this is something i have to do, for Matteo" i say looking directly at him.
"you're taking a break then?" he asked and i was confused
"a break" i thought for a second. that's basically what i was doing huh? "i mean, yeah, just to fix everything that i screwed up"
"fine" Mar said
-at the airport-
"i'm not running okay" i say before leaving Mar at the gate
he laughed and pulled me into his arms, "i know, and i'll be here when you decide to come back, just, remember who you're doing this for" he said holding my face in his hands.
"for Matteo, and myself" i say looking up at him.
"exactly, i love you" he kissed my cheek and let's me go.
"i love you too" i say waving and walking into the tunnel onto the plane.
-Jersey-
i got off the plane and got my luggage. my aunt had called me a car so i quickly got home.
it all felt so familiar. i smiled when i saw the house, it's been almost 3 years.
"Allie" i hear the door open and see my aunt standing there. i quickly go over to her and hug her tight.
"how have you been" she asked as she takes my luggage
"good" it was late and i was tired so my response was bland.
"and how is that sweet baby" she asked but whispering.
"he's good, why are you whispering" she looked at the stairs and back at me.
"an old friend of yours stopped by and i told him you were coming home tonight" she smiled and began to take my luggage up stairs
"which friend?" i felt light headed
"he's in the guest room, i'm going to sleep. i'll see you in the morning" she kissed my cheek and went to her room.
i began to walk upstairs and then enter my room. it was exactly the same. everything was where i left it. even the pictures i had with everyone. even with him.
i plop down on my bed and let myself soak up this moment. after a few minutes i get up and go see who's in the guest room. i walk in and see no one there.
i sit on the bed confused when someone come out of the bathroom.
"holy shit" i turn and see Alejandro in his pjs
"oh shit. Allie" he runs over to me and hugs me tight
"i missed you" i say hugging him back
"we missed you too" he said.
i took a deep breath, then let go. "hey, let's go out, celebrate, invite everyone else?"
i think for a second a finally agree.
-in the car-
we pull up to a house i don't recognize and Ale goes on his phone. "can you go knock for me please" i look at him.
"i don't know who lives here" i say
"please Al" i roll my eyes andget out of the car and walk up to the door.
i knock and wait a second until someone opens the door.
"Allie?!" i immediately get pulled into a hug.
i pull away confused and look up at the guy hugging me
"rebound" i get excited and get on my tippy toes to hug him. "i'm so sorry" i quickly begin to shed tears.
"for what?" he asked as he hugged me tighter
"everything" i say into his chest.
"it's okay, let's go have some fun dude" we laugh and run to the car.
