The first time they visited her, it was arranged by a social worker. Jaiden was only six, so she couldn't fully understand some of the words exchanged by the adults, but she did know that Patton and Remus were fun and nice. They tried asking her questions but switched to playing hide and seek when she didn't answer. She liked that they didn't force her to speak. She waved them goodbye when they had to go, hoping they would come back.

The second time they visited, they played pretend. Jaiden was more vocal then. She really enjoyed being a princess. Patton promised her that they would always treat her like the princess she was. She believed him. Patton doesn't lie. Remus told her that. Neither does Remus. Patton told her that. She trusted them. They were nice, fun, and made her happy. She didn't want them to leave her, but Patton said they'd come back tomorrow. She believed him.

The third time they came, she was waiting with some of her toys. They played house. Patton was a very good chef. Remus is a good tea party guest. They asked her some questions, but were okay if she didn't want to answer them. So nice. They had to leave again though. She didn't want them to! She held onto Patton tightly, she didn't want to be left again. Patton hugged her tightly, "Next time we come back, we're taking you home with us. I promise Jaiden." He promised he'd take her with them. Patton promised, and Jaiden believed Patton. She believed him. They would come back, They would take her with them. They wouldn't abandon her.

There wasn't a fourth time. At least, not one with Jaiden. They had gotten a baby instead. A brand new child that didn't have abandonment issues. It was easier. The guilt though. They had dreams of Jaiden's crying face, asking why they abandoned her. Why they lied to her. They said they didn't lie. They promised. You promised. It built up and they went back to get her. The news hit them like a car. She tried running away to them but didn't look. She ran out into the street, the car was big, and she was so small, she was only six and she was so small. She died. She died without a place to call home, and it's all their fault. It's all their fault.
