DAY 5
"Nice to know the blanket kept you asleep soundly." Loki uttered once you entered the living room, you were up and ready but haven't had your fix of caffeine nor breakfast. He sat over on the couch, leaning on the armrest, cup and saucer in hand.
"Good morning to you, too." You replied sarcastically. You immediately went into the kitchen to fix yourself some breakfast. You assumed Loki already ate seeing his abnormally chipper mood. He was never one to strike up conversation this early. But here you are.
"Are you not going to ask me if I've had sustenance?" You could hear the smirk in his voice so you sighed and turned to the god who was looking at you with amusement bright in his eyes.
"Have you eaten yet?" You asked him begrudgingly.
"No, I have not."
"I'm not your maid, Loki."
"You're not. That is why I want to be of assistance."
You smiled disbelievingly and rolled your eyes at him as he approached the counter top just behind you.
"You're not serious, are you?" You questioned him a mocking smile present on your face. Loki stared at you, clearly annoyed at you for not believing him. I mean, he couldn't blame you. He was afterall the God of Mischief and Lies.
"Okay." You conceded and beckoned him over to where you were, near the stove. The ingredients were already laid out and now you have to basically mix all of it together to make pancake batter.
"Do you know how to cook?" You asked him while you dumped the flour in the big bowl. The powder made a small dust cloud, making Loki's nose scrunch for a second.
"Asgardian meals, yes. Midgardian? Absolutely not." Loki answered honestly.
"Good to know. Let me teach you then," You grabbed the bag of sugar and gestured for him to get the carton of milk next to the flour bag. "Pour the milk in, I'll tell you when to stop."
You simultaneously added the ingredients in the big bowl, Loki was careful, he didnt pour it chaotically like you'd hope. He eased it down the side of the bowl, not spilling a drop when you told him to stop and to put the carton back in the fridge.
You added the salt and baking powder then handed Loki the final ingredient. The egg.
You smiled at him cheekily and you eyed him whilst he cracked it perfectly. Surprisingly no shell went into the mixture.
"You thought I'd fail at cracking those infernal eggs." Loki stated rather than question with a pointed glare, but playful nonetheless.
"Listen..." You trailed off, smiled and shrugged. You grabbed a spatula and handed it to Loki. "Could you mix it while I prepare the pan?" You requested nicely then proceeded to heat up the pan on the stove and add a dash of oil just so the batter won't stick.
"Is this alright?" He asked and showed you the bowl in his arms.
"Yeah, it's all smooth." You replied and scooped some batter on the ladle you were holding and poured it in the center of the heated pan.
"Now we wait until you can see bubbles on top." Loki nodded and leaned on the counter opposite of the stove. Never in his life did he think he'd be cooking with a sort-of-mortal on Midgard whilst the whole world goes into chaos about this new virus. This sort of mundane activities were never really relished on Asgard. Back home it was always about the fights and wars, not doing soft, domestic cooking with friends.
Were you even his friend?
Perhaps, yes. He decided.
Loki didn't realize he zoned out while you were cooking, he came back to his senses when you turned to him and handed him a stack of warm pancakes.
