You cursed your mother for having you out in society at such a young age. You could only stomach so many balls and gatherings in a lifetime. This was the third time this month and quite frankly you're tired of dancing and hearing your mother urge your father to introduce you to men.

"You have to go. Even your younger sisters are going to attend the ball." your mother argued.

"But this is the third time this month and frankly I don't have the patience to deal with another sore toe at the end of the night."

"Then I'll have the maid to prepare your formal flats."

"I also get so tired of you being adamant I get married."

"That's because you're of age."

"For one ball, can you please not beg father to introduce me to another man?" you asked but your mother looked at you unsure. "Please? You can introduce Henriette instead of me. Just this once mother? Then I'll behave perfectly at the ball. I might even dance with one of the owner's sons."

Your mother looked at you with hard eyes. "You better make sure you dance with one of Odin's sons."

You nodded. "It is a deal then." you smirked.

That happened yesterday.

Today was the day of the ball and all of your sisters were happily giggling while doing each other's hair. You sat quietly, reading a book while your older sister, Augusta, neatly curls your hair.

"I hear Mr. Odin's sons are quite handsome." she started.

You hummed. "Is that so?"

"Yes. And I hear you promised mother to dance with one of them."

"Mother and her loose lips," you grumbled. "Yes. Yes I did. And what of it?"

"Merely implying that you may or may not be engaged by the end of the evening." Augusta teased.

"I wouldn't be one to fall in love at first sight and you know that, Augusta. It's more of Nora's traits, surely."

"Hey!" Nora protested.

"I wouldn't oppose, dear." Augusta sides with you and you chuckled when you saw her annoyed reaction.

"I'll have you married off by the end of the night." Nora threatened.

"Oh, deary me! I'm terrified!" you replied dramatically. All of you laughed softly and eased into comfortable silence.

"Are my girls ready?" you hear your mother ask when she entered the room. She saw the four of you in your light pastel gowns with pearls and bows in your heads and it made her proud to have such beautiful daughters. She thought any man would be lucky to have you all as wives.
