Adrianna Gilbert looked on in fear as the man she just hit with her car got up and started walking slowly towards her. She turned away and tried again to pry the seatbelt loose so she could at least get out of the car; the problem was that the belt just wouldn't budge.
She looked to the other side to see that her phone had somehow landed on the roof of the car just out of her reach. She shifted a little in her trapped seat and reached her hand over to grab the phone. She just barely managed to grab it and dialed the most recent number.
"Hello." Damon answered the phone and Adrianna felt an instant relief at his voice. That relief was short lived, however, because when she turned she saw the man getting closer and closer. It seemed like he was purposefully walking as slow as possible to freak her out even more.
"Damon. Damon, help me please!" Adrianna hoped that the fear she was feeling was successfully conveyed through her tone.
"Ade, what's wrong? Where are you?" She knew it was successful because she heard the concern in Damon's voice.
"I don't know, I hit some dude with my car and now he's just walking towards me." The man finally reached the car and crouched down so that he was right in front of her face. "Damon!" She yelled before he grabbed her phone and threw it across the road.
Adrianna's heart started beating rapidly as she stared into the face of the man, who was now smiling creepily at her. He just watched her for a few moments, while she held her breath, before he turned behind him suddenly and then just sped away.
She had barely let out the puff of air before she was looking into a different set of eyes. These ones were familiar and comforting, though, as they belonged to Damon.
"Hey, hey. How ya doing in there?" Damon smiled at her before looking around the interior of the wrecked car. "You look stuck."
Adrianna resisted the urge to roll her eyes and answer him with a snarky response at his quite obvious observation. "It's my seat belt. I can't get it." She tried pulling on it again to prove her point.
"Hey, hey." Damon placed his hand on her arm, which brought her attention back to him. "Let me get you out of there." Adrianna nodded. "I want you to put your hands on the roof. Just like that." Damon said as he guided her hands to the roof. "You ready? 1, 2, 3." Damon counted before he ejected the seat belt and she fell from the seat.
It felt like she was falling from the seat in slow motion. "I got you." Damon pulled her out of the car and placed her gently on her feet, though he kept his hand firmly around her waist. "Are you okay? Can you stand? Is anything broken?"
"I don't think so." Adrianna tried to pull herself out of Damon's arms and he obliged hesitantly. The moment his hand was gone from her waist she began falling. Damon reacted quickly and pulled her back into his arms bridal style.
