Cross was pretty much on cloud nine. Dream was now cuddled up to Cross, sleeping peacefully. Cross now was even more determined to protect his sleeping Prince. Cross couldn't be happier, especially seeing the silhouettes that came from the gemstone. They were exploring the small cottage. Climbing on the chairs and helping one another to get around the room.
Cross saw this and remembered back to Dreams goal to explore the world. He was going to defeat this Evil Queen. So him and Dream could go. Go and sail the seven seas. Go to the different countries and not have to worry about the threat of Dream ever getting hurt.
The door soon opened.
"I'm back!" Quertz yelled announcing his presence. Holding a bag of the berries he had gone to pick.
Cross shot a glare other at him. "Shush." Cross said looking down at Dream.
Quertz nodded. "Oh." Quertz ohed then putting the bag of berries on the kitchen side. "Are you busy right now?" Quertz asked on a more hushed tone.
"Not really." Cross said as a reply.
Quertz eyes lit up. "Okay good I need to tell you something important." Quertz waved a hand before entering a different room.
Cross felt reluctant to follow after him, seeing as though Dream was still sleeping ever so peacefully and Cross didn't want to disturb his sleeping Prince. But it was important. He weighed out the decision before gently unwrapping Dream off of him and putting a soft blanket around him. Again the sun from the window sill, made Dream look radiant.
Fascinated he crouched down and did as he had did before, pressed a light kiss to Dream's forehead before leaving the room. Stealing a quick glance before heading off into the other room, where Quertz was patiently waiting for him.
Cross didn't shut the door behind him. "What did you want to tell me?" Cross inquired.
"You don't know much about the Evil Queen do you?"
"No I don't." Cross replied. "And neither does Dream. Considering that's who's trying to hurt him he should know who they are." He crossed his arms.
"Well there the Evil Queen. My other sister, therefore his mothers sister as well." Quertz said slightly awkwardly. "And you know how. The Kingdom of Feelings is the most lavish out of us three. While the Evil Queen-"
"Why do you keep calling her that? Isn't she still your sister?" Cross interrupted quickly. "My dad has done some pretty horrific things, but I still call him Dad. Not 'Evil Farther'." Cross added seeing as though Quertz looked a little bit offended.
Quertz sighed. "I know. But its just what'd me and Nim would say, so that she wouldn't know." He twiddled with his thumbs a little.
"Okay then." Cross shrugged his shoulders. "Continue." He gestured for Quertz to continue.
Quertz nodded. "Well my sister, the Queen of Mana. She was jealous of Nim. Even though we were all given the same ways to grow our Kingdoms, Nim was the most successful. And that's when the hate truly began.
When Nightmare was born, me and the Queen of Mana, blessed him. She blessed him with the ability to be the next greatest King and learn the quickest out of any child. I blessed him with the ability to suppress the negativity that would cause people to hate him. So he could be a normal child." Quertz continued.
Cross nodded a little. However, he had a question. "Then why did Dream get cursed?" Cross questioned.
"I'm getting to that." Quertz spoke up, keeping a calming tone though. Indicating to Cross that he didn't really know how to phrase next. "If I recall... the Queen of Mana wanted to declare war on a certain place. I didn't want that, being the King of Life and war would make death, meaning that life would be ended without any proper reason. Nim was on my side, seeing as though Nightmare was still so young. And the outbreak of war would create negative feelings that would other whelm him."
