Cross couldn't describe how happy Dream was looking as he saw the young prince running around the large garden that the royal family owned. Dream was running around the edge of the hedges, rolling around in the grass and picking at some of the pretty flowers and bunching them up in his hands. They made pretty bouquets.
Cross was sat down near the small pond which had lily pads, their flowers soon sprouting. The clear water was soothing for Cross to look at every once in a while. However, he couldn't help but stare at Dream of course making sure he was safe and that there was no danger around. But the childish like wonder made Cross happy.
Dream soon then ran other to Cross again. This time his hands completely covered with flowers.
"You having fun?" Cross inquired as Dream sat down next to him.
Dream nodded. "Of course I am." He then set the flowers down and began to press a hole in the bottom of the stem before threading another flowers stem through them. Slowly he was creating a flower crown. "Thank you again so much for convincing my family to let me out here." Dream thanked again for what must have been the hundredth time in three hours.
"Dream. I've already told you it's not a problem. I'm glad that you're having a great time out here though." Cross spoke then as he glanced around the garden. "It really is beautiful here." He then looked at the flowers. There bright yet saturated colours looked delicate like a little hard press could wilt the flowers of their petals.
Cross soon then felt Dream place a flower in his hair behind his ear. "That looks really pretty." Dream complimented, continuing his work on the crown.
Cross put his hand where the flower lay, at first thinking he would take it out, but now he was re-thinking that decision after getting the compliment. He soon felt Dream lean against him slightly.
"Uh Dream?" Cross said then, getting the smaller's attention.
"Yes Cross." Dream said. Cross felt entranced by the golden eyes that looked at his mismatched ones.
"How do you do that?" He indicated too Dream's weaving of the stems.
"I'll teach you then." Dream answered then.
Nightmare then walked through the garden trying to let off some steam it was stressful, having too take extra lessons in order to learn about the social problems of the kingdom, making peace with neighbouring kingdoms and a few other problems. Nightmare soon heard the sound of laughter then as he looked other towards the sound.
"I can't do this!"
"Yes you can! Your nearly there!"
"I split the stem again..."
"That's okay I picked plenty of flowers."
Nightmare saw how happy his little brother laughing and giggling with Cross, his new royal guard. This was the happiest he had ever seen Dream in a long, long time. He suddenly felt a lot less stressed as he calmly kept watching.
Cross accidently leaned a bit too forward while making his own flower crown and he fell into the pond, it wasn't too deep so he didn't need any help and he could pretty much stand in it. However, now he was soaked from head to toe in water.
Dream began laughing hysterically as he fell of the other side of the pond onto the grass and Cross also began laughing as well. The two were laughing so loudly as Cross dragged himself out of the pong and tripped falling on the grass next to Dream.
Nightmare. Didn't know how to feel then. Cross when he first arrived seemed as though he was calm and sensible, however, he was now acting similar to Dream. Not mature.
"Cross." Nightmare spoke up, grabbing the two's attention. "Can you come here please?"
Cross soon got up getting Dream to his feet and holding his hand also bringing Dream with him. "Yes your highness?" Cross then bowed.
"Why are you 'goofing' around?" Nightmare questioned. "This isn't what I was expecting from a guard." He added afterwards.
"Sorry it was my fault." Dream quickly butted in. "I got Cross to join in with my childish antics."
Nightmares brow furrowed. "Cross shouldn't have joined in."
"I know, I'm sorry your highness." Cross apologised. "I'll do better."
Nightmare then walked away. Hearing the silence the two then had as he entered back into the castle walls and picked a book from the large library.
Cross' face soon sank then it looked as stiff as wood. Dream looked at him sympathetically.
"Don't worry about Night." Dream patted Cross shoulder. "He's just stern."
Cross sighed. "But he is correct. I shouldn't have asked you to help me make a flower crown."
Dream only rolled his eyes. "Cross seriously I don't mind and I'm sure you don't either. It's probably just Night not being use to me outside and having fun with a royal guard." Dream continued. "And your definitely my favourite"
"How many did you have?" Cross chuckled a little.
Dream thought for a moment humming a little. "Around seven."
"Seven?" His eyes widened in disbelief. "No way you've been through seven."
"Well they all didn't like me and ended up yelling at me after a while. Which got them fired." Dream said then. "Can we go back to the pond and continue making flower crowns?" His mood quickly changing.
Cross only sighed then. "Of course." Cross agreed as they then ran back other to the pond and sat back seeing where the left the unfinished crowns.
Dream then lay down on the grass as he continued weaving the flower crown soon finishing it as Cross continued to break some of the stems from the flowers. Dream soon then helped Cross break the stem gently and sew the stem back through. The two then dawned there new crowns.
"We should make this a tradition." Dream announced happily swaying back and forth slightly. Cross gave him a puzzled look. "I mean like, every time the flowers begin to wilt on the crowns we should make a new flower crown for one another."
Cross nodded his head. "That would definitely be a lot of fun." Cross liked the idea then.
"Right!" Dream exclaimed. "It would be really nice." He added afterwards then standing up. "Oh the suns setting." The two then looked up at the sunset. Dream soon felt himself get pick up by Cross as it was bridal style. "Uh Cross"
"Come on I want to show you something." Cross then began to run other back to the willow tree as they parted through the vines again. Cross soon began to climb the tall twisted oak tree, somehow still with Dream in his arms.
They soon then made it up to the tree's and Cross parted the vines pathway so they could see the sun. The beautiful rose colour of the sun as it began melting into the ground below. Dream's eyes lit up as they shifted to stars.
"Woah..." Dream breathed out as he leaned forward slightly. "That's beautiful."
Cross only nodded his head then as he watched Dream who looked at the sun.
While Dream's eyes turned to stars.
Cross' eyes turned to hearts, looking at the site in front of him.
