Sunday Morning
____________________
I woke up at 6:30 a.m. to get ready for church.
I was really worried i had never done anything like this before, only when i was younger, and even then we would only go for the Christmas plays and for Easter productions.

Waking everybody else up was the hardest part. Natalie absolutely refused until my mother scolded her and the same for my father. She seemed to be the only one willing to go with me.

I decided on a nice floral pink dress that Tasha bought me yesterday, and a gold necklace, with matching earrings. Today was going to be weird, and different, because the church in Caliborne is really small and every member knows each other.
So me and my family showing up will definitely stir up conversation.
At around 7:30, we all left for the Church building down on Ferrow St.
I was pretty pumped. I was so excited to see what Church was all about.

Once we got there, just as expected all eyes are on us, and voices are buzzing all around us.
"Well hello there!" The preacher boomed walking up the aisle.
"Hello. We are the Dodson's. Thats Ellen, Vic, Natalie, and I am Linda." My mother smiled.
"Well, as you know we are Caliborne Episcopal Church, and we welcome you." People clap and agree sending us these weird smiles.
I look around and everyone sort of looks the same. Perfect teeth, and skin, and hair. All of their clothes nice and neat.
The women mainly wore these lacy white gloves and long frilly dresses that flow well passed there knees. The men wore nice suits and had nice hair cuts.
The little girls were the same and as well for the little boys.
I felt so out of place, i must have looked like a slut to them.

The preacher returns to his stand and he starts to direct us toward our seats.
"The two young girls can go and sit over there with the rest of the youth. And you and your husband can come and sit down with us. They will soon depart from us to get a separate lesson on their level. Okay lets get started."
I cling to my mother's side and i dont let go. I dont want to go over there with the rest of the 'youth' they were scary.
Why did i do this? We should have stayed home, this was harder than i thought. I dont want to leave my mom in my first day of Church. What if they like, do something to my brain or something.
"Let go." my mother tried retrieving her arm.
"No mom please."
'Go!" she says harshly and walks away with my father.
I look over at Natalie and she looks bored, not really bothered by there try hard smiles.

I walk closely next to Natalie and we go and sit down next to the other kids who are our age. I recognized some of them from school.
Within a few minutes i am relaxed and we start moving to the back of the church, so we can we can get our lesson.
After about 1 hour the teachers let out all the students to go and get a small 15 minute break then we had another hour of lesson left.

I was taking a sip of water when someone tapped my shoulder.
"Hi."
"Uhm Hi."
"Yael, but everybody calls me Kathy, my middle name."
"Nice to meet you Kathy, im Ellen.. everybody calls me Ellen."
She cracks up revealing pearly white teeth that could blind everyone in site. She was really pretty, she had unmistakable light honey golden hair, with natural brown highlights. She had almond shaped brown eyes, and small pouty pink lips. Very petite and small, she couldn’t be more than 5'3.
"Your funny. So what brings you here to Caliborne Episcopal?" she asks.

"Uhm well i went to a concert a few days ago, and i wanted to see what it was like to go to Church and expirence God."
Now about 3 other kids gathered around to hear why i was there.
I look past them to find Natalie chatting it up with some boy.
"Cool. What concert?"
"Flyleaf."
"No way! I love her music." Kathy exclaims..
I thought all they listened to was hymns and gospel.
"Err. Yeah me too."
Its awfully quite now and i get terrified again. Their stares remind me of a puppies. So open and wide waiting for the next command.
"Oh how rude of me. Let me introduce my friends." Kathy says.
"Okay." i nod.

"This here is Damien." She says pointing to a boy about 3 inches taller than me. He had black ruffled hair and dark green eyes. A few freckles here and there and a crooked smile.
"How do you do?" he asks.
"Im fine thank you."
"This here is Fiona. She is my sister." Kathy explains.
Fiona was no where near as pretty as Kathy. She was kind of ugly. She had nasty knotted up brown hair, disguised as curls. Short eyelashes, to set off her blue eyes. Her eyes were probably her only great feature. She was the only one in the church that i have met who had a chipped tooth and out of place clothing.

"Uhm hello." she says, her voice was very quiet and sweet.
"Hi."
"That over there is Sam." she said pointing to the boy standing next to Fiona.
Sam was so hot. He had caramel/coffee brown skin. Short black hair shaved nicely. Big brown beautiful eyes and a smile to die for. He was pretty fit, and beamed.
"Hi." Sam, says to me.
His voice was the right tone. Not too deep but not too high, sort of in the middle and mysterious.

"What school do you all go to?" I asked.
"Perkins.. Its not to far from Caliborne High." Fiona said.
"Yeah I know."
Ring Ding RIng DIng!
"Come back . Break's over." the teacher said.
We all came piling back and take our original seats

After another hour Church was finally over and we could leave.
I could hear the preacher's booming voice as he welcomed the second service.
"So how'd you like it?" I asked everyone once we were in the car.
"Eh." Natalie said.
"Not at all." my dad groaned.
"Mom?"
"I liked it!" she said.
Yes!.
"Me too we can come back next week."
"Alright honey."
