“What is that noise!” My mother said emerging from her room, sleep in her eyes.
“Nothing mom go back to bed!” I say opening the door.
“Hey what are you doing your grounded!!” She shouted behind me.
“I’ll make it up later,” I say waving my hand around while running to Peter’s car.
“You look nice.” He says smiling.
I smile back and thank him, while adjusting my seat belt.
He zooms off into the cool night air, to the movies. Even though we said we were going to watch the Exorcist we settled on, Paranormal Activity 2. We’d both seen it already so, you know what that means.
While standing in line waiting for popcorn I excused myself to the bathroom to reapply makeup.
Standing in front of the mirror I checked my breathed, teased my hair a bit, pumped up my boobs and reapplied lip gloss, and perfume.
All the little old ladies, and young girls about 9, were staring at me like some abnormal thing growing out of someone’s head.
“Take a picture it’ll last longer” I say to them.
Almost immediately everyone’s gaze broke away from my face and they resumed what they were doing with embarrassed looks.
When I made it out the bathroom Peter was waiting for me and we were ready to enter the movie.
‘Remember what Tasha showed you, just stay calm, be cute, and smile. Tight bum, minty breath, relaxed shoulders, head held high.’
Check, check, check and check.
“Hey lets sit right there.” Peter gestures to somewhere in the middle aisle.
I didn’t want to making out in front of everybody, we should have went to the back.
I looked around and the theater was packed, so surely someone would see us. But I stayed calm and just brushed it away to the back of my mind and focused on Peter.
“So I cant wait for the movie to start. It’s pretty awesome.” Peter says gazing into my eyes.
He was so beautiful.
“Yeah me either.”
He smiled and settled in, lifting the arm rest so he could be closer to me and putting the popcorn in between his knees.
The lights went dim, and voice came to a slow stop into silence waiting for the movie to begin.
The opening scene was just about these people moving into this house or whatever, pretty boring and I could tell Peter was too. But he hasn’t made a move yet maybe I am supposed to do it first?
Stay cool, it’s just the beginning, who kisses for two hours straight anyways?
