I sat at the dining table. It was 10:30 am and Rangiku hasn't called yet. I was all dressed up and ready. I was wearing an oversized dark blue NASA shirt with blue jeans. I really liked the NASA shirt. It was comfy.I placed my head on the table. Renji was out for some reason. Probably bored or work. A knock from the door. I got off my seat and opened it. Rangiku stood in front of me. She was wearing a white lace button-up shirt with black pants. Her blond hair short and curled as I remembered.
"Sorry for making you wait," She said as I closed the door behind me, "I had trouble with Captain Hitsugaya." I always smiled when the name Hitsugaya was mention. Gaya is translated to style in my mother tongue. "It's okay," I locked the door of the apartment before walking with Rangiku.
"So, where are we going?" I asked her. She looked over to me, her lips formed a smile, "We're going to town. There's a lot of good shops there!" From what I was seeing, I can assume Rangiku was a shopaholic. Fancy clothes. Having knowledge of good stores. Impeccable fashion sense. She was definitely a fanatic in shopping.
"Do you go shopping often, Neddy?" She asked. To be honest, I don't, which was a big surprise to every student back home. They assumed I was a fanatic due to my fancy pencil cases. I bought those fancy things because they were on sale.
Never in a million years, my parents would let me buy things at the original price.
I shook my head, "Unless window shopping counts." She turned over to me as she stopped walking, "Eh, really?" She patted my shoulder, "That's going to change today." She grabbed my hand as she walked, "We'll find something that looks cute on you and will surely impress Captain Hirako!"
At the mention of his name, I flushed. "What do you mean by impress?" I asked Rangiku. Impressed him, how? As far as I know, he was impressing me. "We're going to experiment with your style," Rangiku winked at me. I knew I wasn't going to go home with another oversized t-shirt.
Fanatic was an understatement. We were carrying dozens of paper bags, maybe more! It was like she bought the whole store. She leads me to the Kurosaki Clinic. "Why are we here?" I looked over to the blond. "Storage," she said before jumping up to the window. I followed her by floating up.
Rangiku opened the window, "Mind if we keep our things here?" Before Ichigo could even answer, she dumped the bags into the room. Ichigo shouted in protest, saying his room wasn't storage. I neatly arranged some bags at the end of his bed.
Ichigo and Rangiku froze as they saw me. I looked over to them with a puzzling look. "You can fly?!" They both shouted in surprise. It made sense Rangiku had no idea. But didn't Kisuke or Renji told Ichigo? I nodded, "I manipulate gravity," I told the two. I looked over to Ichigo, "I'm always at Urahara's, didn't you see me?"
Ichigo scratched the back of his head, "Sorry, I was distracted by Renji."
Rangiku took hold of my shoulders, "When did you get it? Why didn't you tell any of us?" She shook me gently.
"I-I thought Renji would tell you guys!" I squeaked, adjusting my glasses back in place.
"He doesn't tell us anything," Rangiku pouted. "Well, let's continue, Neddy."
"You guys are getting more?!" Ichigo exclaimed.
"Eh, this isn't even close to enough!" Rangiku replied. She looked over to me, grabbing my hand, "Let's go."
We were in town again. She dragged me into a shop. She stopped in front of the hangars of clothing. She took a few and handed it over to me, "Go ahead and wear these together," she said as she pushed me into a fitting room.
I wore the outfit. It was a pink deep V neck t-shirt with a beige cardigan. So, it showed the top of my chest which made me feel extremely self-conscious. I slowly pushed the curtains aside and looked at Rangiku. "It suits you!" She sparkled, smiling at me. I covered the top of my chest, suddenly feeling shy, "It-Its too revealing!"
"Awww, Neddy, don't be shy," she pouted, "You look cute in it!" I shook my head, "I wanna change!" I slide the curtains close. "Neddy, you're no fun!" I heard her say. I looked at myself in the mirror, shaking my head. My culture forbids this. I took off the outfit and changed back to my comfortable shirt.
I walked over to Rangiku with the outfit hanging on my arm. She took it, "We're still buying it. In case, you change your mind," she continued looking through the rows of clothing. "Rangiku-San," I softly called out, "How are you so pretty? You have full lips and a beauty mark and you just look so perfect..."
Rangiku's hands stopped as she looked over to me. Her gaze was soft and gentle. Her lips curved into a smile, "Neddy, do you know what's important?" She said, "Confidence. You, too, have a beauty mark," she poked at the left below my bottom lip. "Even if you have broad shoulders and you're a little chubby, that shouldn't stop you from being confident."
"The beauty on the outside doesn't matter. What matters is your beauty on the inside. If you believe in your own beauty, you'll be beautiful in many eyes. If someone tells you you aren't pretty, don't believe them. Everyone is beautiful and unique in their own way, and that includes you."
"Rangiku-San..." I was awed and taken back from her words. Those words were...beautiful. I looked at myself, feeling a wave of confidence coming over me. I looked at Rangiku, smiling, my eyes slightly watery. I gave her a hug as she hugged me back.
"Thank you."
