I flew around another area of space for Shiro. I still remember when we found the Black Lion empty, only his bayard remained inside. Then, Pidge screamed for us to come see Saoirse.
I shivered and let go of the controls, rubbing my hands up and down my arms to warm myself up. I felt so helpless when all I could do was hold her until she calmed down. And then, when she finally looked at me... she said....
"He's gone. Shiro's gone, isn't he?"
Those were her last words before she passed out. Soon after that, she developed a really bad fever. She was unconscious for a few days and then even after she woke up, she still felt really sick. And yet, Saoirse always greeted us with a smile whenever we would visit her in her room.
I can't imagine where she gets that strength from. Even when she feels as horribly as she does, she can still smile as if she was the happiest person in the universe. I guess that's what made me fall for her.
Weeks had passed since our fight with Zarkon. But even with him gone, the universe was still far from out of the Galra's control.
Planets were still under Galra control, aliens were still captured and separate factions of the Galra have gone rouge, doing whatever they wanted to the universe.
We still helped whoever we could, freeing planets from the Galra, cutting off supplies to Galra bases, and whatever we could to stop or at least slow them down. But without Shiro to fly the Black Lion, we couldn't form Voltron. Even if we could form Voltron, none of us wanted to fly without Saoirse.
She is our armor. The one who kept Voltron safe from any harm. It was almost as if she was the soul of our team.
I stopped flyijg through space, not finding anything in the vicinity. Another dead end.
"There's nothin' out here, Coran." I sighed.
"I'm sorry, Keith." Coran replied.
"I'm comin' home." I turned around and flew back to the Castle as fast as he could.
It didn't take very long for me to get back home. Once I landed, I went to my room and changed into my casual clothes then took a quick walk to Saoirse's room.
I took a deep breath and knocked.
"Saoirse? Are you awake?" I whispered, careful that if she was resting, I wouldn't wake her up.
"Come in." I heard her voice say from behind the door. The door opened and I immediately saw Saoirse sitting up in the bed. She was in her Teshirian form. I couldn't help but feel the heat rush to my cheeks and ears as I saw her staring at her pendant.
The pendant began to glow and a holographic picture of her family hovered above the pendant. She smiled at the couple lovingly.
"Hey, Saoirse." I said, walking to the side of her bed and sitting down on top of the covers.
She looked at me and smiled sweetly.
"Hi, Keith. How was your search?" She asked.
I looked down and shook my head.
"I didn't find him yet." I answered, "But don't worry. I won't stop until I find Shiro. It's the least I could do for all he's done for us."
She nodded and patted my shoulder.
"I know you will find him. He's never given up on us, so we won't give up on him."
I looked back up at her and smiled, "So, how are you feeling? Your fever didn't spike again, did it?"
