"How many of these do you have?" I asked seeing the vervain darts, accompanied by wooden stakes and q crossbow, thrown across Alaric's desk.
"Probably not enough" Alaric replied.
"What're you doing?" Damon asked, seeing Elena picked up one of the vervain darts.
"I'm going in" Elena replied.
"No you're not" Damon replied. Alaric and I watched as the two bickered back and forth for the second time today. "If you go in and distract me, it'll be a blood bath none of us walks away from. Including Stefan" Damon finished and Elena teared up. "Put it back."
"What if we need it while we wait in the car? What if they find the car and attack us?" I asked, making Damon rethink the situation.
"Fine" Damon sighed. "One for each of you."
"If we are going to do this we need to now. It's going to get dark pretty fast" Alaric spoke.
***Damon parked where we were earlier, Alaric and Damon not wasting any time. I sat in the passenger side as Elena was in the driver side being the getaway driver. The rain pounded relentlessly on the windshield. Elena pulled the vervain dart from her bag.
"Are we gonna do this?" I asked, looking between her and the dart.
"Why are you doing that?" Elena asked.
"Doing what?" I asked, confused.
"Being nice to me. Risking your life for Stefan, giving Damon a hard time" Elena listed before laughing slightly.
"For one, you're one of the few people I know in town. Second, after Stefan apologized for almost killing me, we've become somewhat friends and last but not least" I joked. "I love giving Damon a hard time."
"And you like him?" Elena questioned.
"Damon, yeah... Anyway let's go get Stefan" I changed the subject, getting out of the car and Elena following my actions. The rain had slowed while we were talking, almost coming to a stop. We rounded the back of the house, staying close to the brick wall. We slid along the wall quietly and I noticed a stairway leading down. Poking Elena's shoulder, I pointed to the stairs. She nodded, each of us ducking under a window and running down the stairs. I rounded a corner but before I could go any further Elena pulled me back. She put her finger to her lips, telling me to be quiet. I nodded as she looked around the corner. I watched Elena quickly move back, her hand clenched tighter on the vervain dart. A loud crack sounded around the corner and Elena sighed in relief.
"What the hell are you two doing?" Damon asked.
"We are helping" I answered, moving around Damon and going down the hallway. I came to a doorway and noticed Stefan hanging from the ceiling. "Oh my god."
"Stefan!" Elena gasped, running over to him.
"You shouldn't be here" Stefan mumbled.
"I told them to stay in the car" Damon replied, going over to untie Stefan from the ceiling.
"Veravin ropes" Stefan mumbled again.
"Elena. Get the ropes" Damon demanded. Only then did I notice the African American sitting in the chair, wooden stakes in his legs. Damon grabbed one of the stakes from the man's leg and was about to stake him.
"No, not him" Stefan said. Damon rolled his eyes, leaving the man bound to the chair. I pulled the other stake out of his leg and leaned down to look at him.
"You could come with us" I offered.
"Danica, no. Let's go" Damon growled.
"I shouldn't" he spoke, shaking his head.
