It hasn't even been a day and I was falling back into my old ways. The lonely Diana. The reckless Diana. I called in sick at the tattoo parlor, and Clark wished me well. I slowly made my way the the closest market store for some goods. It was nearing nightime which made what I was about to do easier. I grabbed a bottle of vodka and a Gatorade. I made my way to the bathroom and peeled the stickers from the vodka bottle. Why buy when you can get it for free? After I was done, I put the vodka bottle in my bag and walked out with the Gatorade. I payed for the Gatorade, making sure to look the cashier in the eyes. I acted as normal as I could, anxiety clawing at my stomach. I payed for the juice and walked toward the exit. I held my breath as I passed the threshold, which is normally where the detector is. I silently cheered in my head, smirking devilishly. Man that felt good. I cracked open the bottle as I got further from the store. Making my way into the woods, I took a sip. The thought of any vampires hiding out in the woods passed through my mind, and I brushed it away. I wasn't going to let my fear get in the way of a good time. Soon a sip turned into a gulp once I couldn't taste it anymore. An 18oz bottle became half gone, and I was drunkenly dancing around the trees singing to myself. "Shots shots shots shots shots shots shots shots shots shots, everybody!” I sang obnoxiously, jumping up and down. How pathetic I am. Having a party by myself. I dropped my phone and making the flashlight spiral to the ground. The music stopped temporarily, changing to a new song. Something made a noise in the distance, and I turned the music off. A soft light glowed in the distance, and it made me want to see what it was. I picked up the vodka bottle and took another swig. Gathering my courage, I made my way through the woods. Within a couple of steps, gravestones began popping up in the shadows. I eyed them closely, but it didn’t stop me from continuing on. A couple more steps and three people came into view, along with a dug up grave and lit torches. One had their back toward me, raven hair shining in the light. In seconds, he had Elena by the throat and Stefan met my unfocused eyes before he put me into a chokehold. My phone dropped by the sudden movement, and I gasped.
"Stefan" Elena croaked out, and I saw the realization cross his features as he noticed me.
"Let go of me" I slurred, Stefan’s hands resting against my neck. I elbowed Stefan’s stomach, and he groaned but kept his composure.
"Give me the book" Damon demanded, and I noticed the book in Stefan’s other hand.
"Give me Elena" Stefan spoke back.
"Not until you give me the book. I don’t trust you anymore" Damon spoke.
"You don’t know anything about trust" Stefan countered.
"Give me the book Stefan" Damon spoke threateningly. He waited a few minutes before he bit his wrist. “You give me no choice” Damon frowned. He placed his bloody wrist against Elena’s mouth, and made her drink it. Not even a second goes by and Stefan’s hand tightened for the first time around my throat. I clawed at his hand, begging for some air. He continued to tighten his hand until Damon removed his wrist.
"I’ll give you the book" Stefan spoke. "Let Elena go."
"How am I supposed to trust you?" Damon asked.
"You just did the one thing that assures I’ll give it to you" Stefan spoke quietly. He threw the book on the ground, his hand still around my throat. Damon immediately let go of Elena, and she scurried over to us. At this point, spots covered my vision and I gasped for air.
“Stefan, quit trying to be badass. It’s not working out for you” Damon spoke.
"Stefan, stop" Elena spoke, grabbing his arm. "Let go, this isn’t you." Stefan released me, and I collapsed to the ground as I rubbed my throat. Suddenly Elena and Stefan were gone, leaving me with Damon. I glanced up at him as I swallowed in pain. I reached the bottle with my other hand, but Damon grabbed it before me.
He took a drink before saying "you're a mess."
"Thanks" I glared at him. "Now give it back." Damon dropped the bottle next to me before he disappeared. I was alone. Again.
