LOVE DOESN'T GIVE A DAMN

Chapter 7

....I opened my can....

"So tell me, what interesting couples are at Primidge high?" I started....

"Well, the most popular one as you know are Carl and Maddie," she said.

"I noticed that Tori and Owen were holding hands at the lunch table, are they dating?" I asked.

"Yh, they started dating about four months ago," she said.

"Who is your boyfriend?" I asked smiling.

"I'm actually single," Kenz said.

"Then you must have an ex or a crush right?"

"Well....no ex but I did have a crush once," she said.

"Ohhh.....tell me the name of the guy," I said grinning.

That moment, I looked at her face and saw that her countenance had changed.

"Owen," she replied.

......I immediately felt so bad and stupid at the same time. How could I not have noticed the change in her mood....

"I'm so sorry for asking," I said feeling embarrassed.

"Don't be," she said and gave a slight smile.

"Would you like to talk about it?" I asked in a quiet tone.

"I have had a secret crush on Owen for a long time now but we were close friends and I didn't want to ruin our friendship by telling him. Then all of a sudden, I noticed that he had a crush on Tori and she liked him too. I can't blame them cause neither of them knew about my feelings and I know for certain that if they Tori knew, she wouldn't have agreed to date him. I didn't want to spoil their happiness so I decided to get over him. But trust me, it has been really difficult. I am over him now though. I just get a little jelly sometimes," she said and laughed. "But I'm glad that we all are still friends," she concluded.

"Wow!... I'm really proud of you because not everyone can be that selfless. Thanks for confiding in me and trust me, you would soon find someone that would make you forget all about him," I said and squeezed her hand.

"Awwn thanks Isla. You are a good listener. Lets get going. Its getting late," she said.
We started walking and everything went back to normal.

Kenz' house was just a street away from mine. We passed another route and stopped in front of her house. I thanked her and collected my bags from her then we said our goodbyes.

I got home some minutes past seven. I went straight to the kitchen and put away everything I bought. Then I went straight to my room, changed, brushed my teeth and laid on the bed. I was very happy about how today turned out to be. I was scared of not making any friends at first and now, I have 4 amazing friends. I felt so lucky.
That moment, my phone rang and I smiled immediately I saw the caller ID.

....."Hi dad...."

"Hi baby, how are you doing?"

"I'm very good and happy too although I miss you," I replied.

"I know you do. How was school today? Did you face any troubles?"

"No, I didn't and guess what.....I made new friends." I answered.

"Tell me more," he said.

I then told my that everything that happened. Me and my dad were really close and I didn't like to hide anything from him. We spoke for about 30mins.

......"I'm so happy you had a good day sweetheart but I have to go now. I will talk to you tomorrow," he said.

"Okay dad....love you...."

"Love you too," he replied and hung up.
I just checked a few of my Facebook messages before I finally went to bed.
