Sometimes, you just have to prove to someone that you are not weak and they can't walk over you. I still can't forget the look on Maddie's face when she stomped out. It was hilarious.

The rest of the day went by quickly. Dad and I talked for a while in the night and Kenz, Tori and I created a WhatsApp group chat and chatted till it was very late before I slept off.

I woke up on Thursday without my alarm clock ringing. I had breakfast and headed for school. I arrived early and went to my locker to get a few things. Kenz was standing there.

"You are early today," she said.

"Yh, I woke up earlier than usual." I said smiling.

"I bought this for you," she put a small red hair clip on my hair.

"Why the gift?"

"This just for comforting me that day at the cafeteria. I choose the right colour, it matches your dress perfectly."

I wore an off shoulder flared yellow dress that stops just above my knee. I also had red high heeled sandals on.

"Awwwn thanks Kenz. But you shouldn't have gotten me anything. It's what friends do you know?"

"You deserve it dearie."

"Hello Ladies," Tori came to us a greeted. She was holding a cup of coffee in her right hand.

"Hey Tori," Kenz and I said.

"Let's get to class, the bell would soon go off."

Throughout the day, Kenz, Tori and I had all classes together but before the closing bell, Tori received a call from home and had to leave early.

"What plans do you have after school?" Kenz asked me.

"I don't really have any plans. I'm not yet familiar with this place you know."

"If that's the case, you should totally come with me and Jake to the park. It would be fun."

"That sounds great, what time should I come?"

"Ummm....lets say by 6:30pm. Jake would be happy to go to the park again," she said excitedly.

"You seem to be more excited than him," I grinned.

"We'll see later .....bye...."

I got home some minutes before 4 o'clock. I ate the cheese burgers I bought on my way back. I felt lazy to cook. It was really difficult to Cook when you lived alone. I finished my homework and decided to sleep a little.

It was already ten minutes past six when I woke up. I jumped out of bed when I saw what time it was.

"Oh my.....I forgot that I had to meet Kenz. I had slept longer than I intended. I quickly ran into the bathroom to brush my teeth. I changed into white shorts and a yellow tank top. I wore black slippers and carried a small black bag.

I was already late and I needed about 10mins to reach the park. I saw a man selling balloons and bought three for Kenz's little brother.

I got to the park and looked around for Kenz. I texted her....

Where are you guys?

She replied immediately.

We are at the swing set.

I went over there.

"Hey Kenz."

"Hey Isla....." she responded.

I bent so that I could be the same height with Jake.

"You must be Jake," I said smiling.

"Yes, I am. Are those for me?"

"Of course, here you go."

"Thank you. I also have a present for you."

"Really...hmm...I wonder what it might be..."

He reached for my face and pecked my cheek.

"Awwwnn sweet. But what was that for?"

"Its because of you I could come to the park again today. I'm so happy," Jake said smiling.

"Awwn you're so adorable. Kenz, why didn't you tell me that Jake was this cute?"

She just smiled obviously happy that her brother and I were getting along.

Jake and Kenz had the same eye colour. Although he was blond unlike Kenz. He looked so cute. I knew he would grow up to be very handsome. He was pretty tall for his age.

I liked Jake. He was like the little brother I never had. I wish I had a younger sibling. Maybe then dad might not be travelling so much. But come to think of it, he might have also married again. So I think I'm good this way.

Jake insisted I pushed him on the swing first.

It was fun. Kenz and I chatted while we took turns to push Jake on the swing.

"I love your shorts," she complimented.

"Thanks dearie. But I think it makes my but look big."

"Babe.....you already have a big butt, those shorts you have on doesn't change anything."

"You are making me feel embarrassed," I said because seriously, it was embarrassing.

"Why is it that people that are blessed don't appreciate it. I wish I had your shape. You're gorgeous," she continued.

.......I laughed.......

"You are gorgeous too," I said and she smiled. Kenz had the figure of a model. She was slim but we were the same height.

"Kenz, I'm tired," Jake said.

"Aw come here baby. We'll go home now okay," she said and kissed his forehead.

It was already getting dark. Jake fell asleep before we left the park. I offered to carry him.

We got to the front door of my house and I had to give him back to Kenz.

"Goodnight Kenz, goodnight Jakey," I wisphered.

"Goodnight Isla," Kenz said and they left.

After I had changed my clothes, I laid down on my bed and checked my phone. I had two messages. One from dad and the other one from an unknown number.

I read dad's message first. He informed me that he would not be able to come back next Friday and it might be up to a month before he would be back. He apologized for it but I was still sad. He promised to call me later.

I sighed sadly and opened the second message. It said;

"Hi Isla, how are you?
Its ......
OMG its Carl.....

I think he is.....but we'll find out in the next chapter cos its going to be in Carl's POV...
