I put my bag down and waited for the boys to finish their cool down before we can take over the court.
Look at me, Cameron please.
But he didn't, he didn't noticed me at all. And that's the sad part, we have DUKE printed over our shirts. I thought he will come looking for me, he is a friend right?
"Curfew at 10pm today, make sure everyone is in, I will check." Coach dismisses us.
"Lunch at the pier?" Tania ask as we pack up our bags, "sure." I agreed and swing my duffel bag.
"Uh Alexis, I think you might need to take a rain check." Tania says, I look at her, confused, "huh?"
Tania points to me, I look down at myself then look behind me.
I look up at the familiar blue eyes, "y'know they call this fate." Cameron winks at me.
Do I be mad and yell at him?
Do I wrap my arms around him and say I miss him? 'Cause I do.
"Bye Alex." Tania leaves.
I hit Cameron in the arm, "you bitch." I curse at him.
Cameron chuckles lightly, "have you been well, Morgan? Did anyone hurt you?" He grabs my towel and wipes off the sweat from my forehead.
I look down, avoiding his gaze. I look at shirt that says UCLA on the front. "No." I answered, "thanks for asking."
"So why'd you leave?" I blurt out.
Cameron stops and puts the towel down back on my shoulder, "let's talk about it over lunch." Cameron says and we begin walking out of the stadium together.
I updated Cameron on everything that happened.
I have so many questions for him, I don't know if I can ask.
We sat down and ordered our food. While waiting, we sat in silence for a minute or two.
"I bet you have a lot of questions," Cameron flashes me a small smile.
Yes, I do.
"I think this is the first time we sit opposite of each other like this." He points out.
"It's nice." I say, I wish they will be more of this in the future.
Cameron nods his head in agreement, "my father is on a run." He says, "my step-mother and Melissa, they are also on a run because of my Dad. Man... I really don't know," Cameron stirs his iced tea, "I really don't know what's happening."
I stare at him blankly, "I am on a run too." Cameron mutters.
"I did nothing wrong, maybe in the past I did but I did nothing wrong. I didn't wanted to leave Duke at all, my neighbour was a great friend, I didn't wanted to leave anything."
There's more to you than it seems. Maybe Nate is right, he is a dangerous man. But I still don't know his story.
"Why is your father on a run?" I ask out of curiosity, "I have no idea." Cameron shrugs, "who's Emily?" I ask.
"My ex-girlfriend."
Ah...
"Nothing happened the night she came," Cameron explains. "Her family and my family... They're really good friends, her father is missing so she came to me to ask for help. But I am no longer close to my father since my mother passed so... I can't help her, next thing I know... I need to move here to Los Angeles."
I stare down at my food, I shouldn't push on more.
"Are you doing well?" I ask.
"It's boring, I don't have to water my plants now because there's a gardener." He answers with a smirk.
I chuckled, "so you live with your Dad now?"
Cameron shrugs his shoulders, "yeah sadly." He frowns a little.
"We should do something before you go back to North Carolina." He suggested.
Right, I am only here for a few days.
"We have a game tomorrow, Cameron." I reminded him, "we should go have fun after our game." Cameron says, his eyes lighting up.
He seems fond about his own idea.
"Okay, where are you bringing me, Fields?" I smiled widely at how adorable he is.
Cameron stares at me for a moment, "what?" I raise a brow at him.
"You will see tomorrow," Cameron says and look backs down at his food.
"Okay, Fields."
