IT TOOK A WHILE FOR either of them to speak.

Mike couldn't really process all the information- but surprisingly the most prominent feeling to hit him at first wasn't anger, or fear- but relief.

Relief, because Will had been so close to being taken away from him, from being whisked into this lab and going through who knows what (El's story already proved to them how maniacal these people were), and he had been there in time to save him.

Relief, because there wasn't a monster again- and Will wasn't going crazy.

But after the relief sank in, the anger finally hit. These people messing with Will like that, doing all these things to him for so many years... He wanted to pick up the gun still sitting in between them and shoot this woman straight in the face. He wanted to turn around and murder every one of them sons of bitches who dared miss with his Will like that.

He actually wanted to do it so bad it scared him. Never in his life had he had this strong of an urge. It was actually sort of hard to tare his eyes away from the metal object on the ground.

He wanted to scream. And luckily, that he could.

"WHAT THE FUCK- HOW COULD YOU DO THAT?"  He roared, staring at her with the angriest look he could muster.

"You put something in my brain?" Will whispered, looking almost as pale as he was when Mike had just gotten him out.

May just shrugged. "As you can tell everything had already gone very wrong, So I guess there's really no harm in telling you. The experiment is over now, it's too ruined. We're done with you, Will. Thank you for your help-"

"OH LIKE HELL YOU ARE!" Mike screamed again, this time rising to his feet. "like I'm letting you getting away with this. We're gonna sue you so hard, you and everyone else involved in this will sit in Jail for the rest of your miserable fucking life-" May's face twisted with actual concern, but before Mike could finish he felt a faint tugging at his sleeve.

Will looked up at him, his eyes tired and desperate. "Mike... Stop. No."

"What do you mean no?? Will, don't you understand how bad what they did is- all this pain they caused you, we got to make them pay!"

But Will shook his head again. His voice was strangely calm as he spoke. "No. There's no use. We could never take them down- and even if we can it would cost so much and take so much time... time we would have to spend dealing with them. And I'm tired of this, Mikey. I don't want anything to do with the lab or the monsters again. Not ever."

He turned to May again. "Can you promise that I'll be left alone? No more of this?"

She thought about it, and nodded. "Yes. I swear, we're done."

Will nodded back, and turned his eyes to Mike. "So I'm done too. "

"Will, baby, you don't understand... Don't you want them to pay for what they've done?" Mike leaned down, so his face was right next to Will's. He couldn't believe Will wasn't angry when he himself was so furious it was terrifying. But the brunette just shook his head.

"I just want to go home. Can you take me home, Mike?" His voice was slightly trembling, like he was on the edge of tears, and he looked so exhausted... Once again Mike wanted to hit himself. Of course Will wouldn't want anything more to do with this. Of course he'd just want to go home. He felt his anger dissolving into close to nothing.

"Anything, baby. Anything you need." He reached to wrap his arm around Will's waist, and slowly helped the boy up. Will's hands slung across his neck, his legs barley holding him up- buckling slightly. Maybe the drug hadn't left his system completely yet. Mike didn't even ask, whipping Will up into his arms.

He walked to the edge of the road, ignoring the woman still sitting on the ground, and stuck one of his hands out. It hurt him how light Will was, how he had gotten so skinny again without Mike noticing.

It didn't take long for a cab to pull up, and Mike slowly put Will in the backseat. He was about to follow him in, but after a second turned back. He ran towards the street, and came to face May.

"Stay from him. Stay away from all of us, or I will come after you all. And I mean it."

He didn't care if he sounded like an idiot child, he didn't even care what her reaction was. He said what he had to said, turned back and ran into the cab, sitting behind Will as they slowly drove away.

✴ ⁕ ✴ ⁕ ✴

The cab was dark and cozy, and the radio from the front of the cab was playing the Beatles softly. Will didn't talk to him, didn't even look at him- just stared silently out the window.

Mike understood. He didn't try to talk to him- because he wanted to give him time to think. He couldn't imagine how this felt- and the episodes weren't even all of it. But that wasn't important now... He reminded himself, they would deal with that tomorrow.

Right now he just had to be there for Will. To let Will process things, and be there if he he needed help. Be there for everything.

He stared at the boy still in the green gown, and didn't stay anything. He just put his hand on Will's thigh, just to show him that he was there. He didn't care that Will didn't respond, because he knew he felt it.

A few minutes passed in silence, and suddenly Will turned back to Mike. His cheeks were stricken with tears, his eyes glittering.

But he smiled.

"I love you." was all he said. He leaned in and kissed Mike a soft kiss on the mouth, but soft as it was Mike's stomach burst with butterflies.

He pulled back, and smiled a tearful smile again. Then, he put his head on Mike's shoulder.
"I love you too. You're the strongest, most amazing boy I've ever met in my life and I can't believe I get to call you mine. I love you so, so much." Mike said quietly, knowing how sappy he sounded. But he didn't care- he needed Will to know.

And after a few moments Will's breath started to even, and Mike knew his boyfriend was deep in sleep. A sleep he deserved like no one had ever deserved to sleep before. So he stroked Will's hair, letting himself be happy for a minute.

It didn't matter how hard tomorrow would be- because right now, right in this moment in the back of a cab in a mostly empty road- right now, they were together.
