❀" What happened to you ? " Jack asked as he hands Bea a bottle of soda he brought a minute ago.
They both settled down on an empty bench nearby the park.
" Stuffs went down at home. Parents were fighting for money and my dad went physical on my mom. " Bea sighs out loud and takes a sip of the drink. Her tiredness from running is now gone, but her emotions still remained.
" Oh no.. How's your mom ? Are your siblings okay ? " Jack asked worriedly.
Bea shrugs, unsure of what to say..
" My mom will be fine... I don't know about my siblings. I dropped them off to the next door neighbor. They'll be safer there. " She tells him, taking another sip." So you ran away ? " Jack chuckles, taking a sip from his drink as well.
" Hey! " Bea punches him on the arm, making him choke on the drink.
" Oww geez I was joking. " Jack rubs his arm, grunting in pain.
Bea smirks, amazed that her punch was strong enough to hurt him but eventually, tears starts to form in her eyes once again. She sobs continuously, not knowing how to stop. Tears just kept falling and falling every second. Jack scooched over and held Bea in, giving her the comfort that she needed.
She felt like drowning. Her emotions were taking control of her and all she could feel was numbness throughout her whole body. Jack held her in a bit tighter as Bea cried into his arms.
" I just... feel so bad for my siblings. " She finally says.
He pulls out of the hug and gives her a confusing look. " Why ? "
Bea breathes in heavily, wiping the tears away from her bare cheeks. " I'm worried.. I grew up feeling like a burden to my parents. I just don't want my siblings to grow up feeling like that. "
" Bea... they'll be fine. I know it. They have an older sister that watches over them. They are lucky to have you. " Jack says.
Bea smiles brightly, touched by the words he said. He was right. No matter how tiring it is to watch over her siblings all the time, she still cares for them. Her mother may have broken her, but that doesn't stop Bea from fighting. She hopes that her siblings wouldn't go through the same pain she went through.
" Thank you.." She says to Jack and finishes off her drink in just one gulp." I'm always here Bea. We all are... " Jack looks away immediately. Not showing her the sad expression displayed on his face. He felt a little off but satisfied at the same time.. He has his own problems but after giving Bea an advice, he realized something. His little sister..
" What about you ? What were you doing here ?" Bea asked.
It took a minute for Jack to answer her..
" My Mom was being an ass towards me and kicked me out of the house.." He says as he watches her tossed the empty bottle into the trash can near them." Oh no really ?? " Her eyes bulged wide open.
" I'm okay with it though. It isn't the first time so I'm used to it. It just gets annoying sometimes.." Jack says, finishing his drink. He tosses it right into the trash can as well.
" Moms... if only they know how hard it is for us. Right ? " Bea wipes a remaining tear away from her cheeks.
" Yup."
