" What are you guys doing at the field this late at night ?! " Mr.Edgar was full on tomato mode. Jack glances at the others but they avoided making eye contact with him.

" How many times do I have to catch you guys ? Its always you 5 " He points his fingers at each five of them but stops at Kyla. " and you Ms.intelligent plus smart aced student. I had higher expectations..." with this comment, Kyla was displeased of herself.

Jack notices the disappointment in her face and swoops in to save her, like he always does. " Sir, it was my fault. I forced her to come even though she didn't want to. "

Neil was totally disturbed by this, and so were the others, but they kept their mouth shut. Their plan was ruined and a failure as well so it doesn't makes sense saving Kyla when all of this was for Jack and his one sided love.

Mr.Edgar clears his throat and tells the guards to leave. All of them were confused on to what was going to happen. Bea could feel that tonight will be the last night she'll be alive. If the guards are not here, there'll be no witness and Mr.Edgar can do anything to punish them.

Once the guards were out the door, Mr.Edgar waited for a minute before continuing on.

" Now... "

He started clearing up his desk, organizing all the papers on the table and looked out the window to see if anyone was outside. This agitated them even more...

" What is he going to do ? " Edna whispers to Jenny.

Mr. Edgar slowly turns around to face them again, this time with a smile on his face. It's the first time they've seen him smile. Every second of every day, no student in this school has ever seen Mr.Edgar smile this warmly.

" Go home safely kids... " He tells them. It took them a while to take in what he just said. It must be the howl of wind that made them misheard what he said or that Mr.Edgar is being a total lunatic.

" Huh ? " Neil was completely baffled. They all gave Mr.Edgar a perplexed look and he... just... laughs.

" You guys heard me. Or do you guys want to stay until tomorrow morning ? "

Kyla swiftly gets up from her seat and before leaving the office, she gives them a wave and dashes out the door.

" Are you serious ? " Jenny's mouth was wide open. " So we're not in trouble ? " She asked.

" Do you want to be ? Do you guys want detention ? " He says.

" No sir, thank you but no. " Edna says, stopping him from getting their files from the stacked of folders which has all their records recorded.

" Then get out. " Mr. Edgar chuckles. " But clean up that date picnic thing at the field first."

They did not hesitate. They grabbed their stuffs and left the office before Mr.Edgar changes his mind. Once they were out, they headed back to the football field together. No one said a word on the way there because they were all confused. Jack however, was too busy controlling his inner emotions.

" Is Mr.Edgar taking drugs ?" Neil asked.

" Impossible. He's too old for that. " Jenny tells him.

They reached the middle of the field now, where the picnic is located. But they continued their discussion about Mr.Edgar

" I mean, why did he let us go just like that ? " Bea asked but they were all clueless.

" Oh no... what if he's saving our punishment for tomorrow. What if we calls us back to the office tomorrow? " Edna started chewing the tips of her fingernails. Something she'd always do whenever she feels nervous.

" I think so too..." Jenny tells her.

They turn to look at Jack who was busily clearing the mess up. The dejected look on his face was enough to inform them that the plan must've been a failure. But neither of them said anything first..

Jenny puts out all the candles and placed them inside the basket that is now empty. Edna and Bea folded the blanket and set aside all the decorations. But since Neil was so curious, he decided to break the silence...

" Oh suck it up Jack... tell us what happened. " Neil says. Jenny nudged him on the ribs, and he grunted in pain. This wasn't the right time for any nonsense but Neil, being the most pesky person that he is, wasn't aware of what Jack must be feeling at this moment.

" She turned me down... " Jack mumbled, but it was audible enough for them to hear.

There was a moment of silence again, and Edna patted his shoulder lightly, giving the comfort that he needed. " At least you tried right ? It's her lost anyways. " She tells him. The others nodded their head in agreement. It was her lost. Jack is the most heart warming guy any girl would ask for. If Kyla doesn't see that, it's her problem.

Jack doesn't seemed pleased by what she said. He brushes her hand away and Edna felt a bit offended by this gesture.

He lets out a long sigh before saying anything... " She didn't even let me explain or say what I feel. " Jack says, tears forming in his eyes. It was their first time seeing him like this. Since he is the most cheerful one amongst them, it was heart breaking to see this side of him. The vulnerable side.

" Jack... it's okay. If she doesn't acknowledge your feelings then you deserve someone who sees your worth. Kyla is not worth it. " Jenny says as she puts the basket down. She crosses her arms and walked towards him... " She's not the only girl out there. "

" You guys don't get it. Kyla is the only girl I like.. I don't see myself liking anyone else. " Jack says in gritted teeth.

They were not used to seeing this side of him, Ever. Jack never showed his emotions to anyone. Whenever he's angry or upset about something, he never showed it. But for the first time, over a girl, he manifested the person he truly is.

Jack notices the unsettled look on their faces and realized that he was being a total jerk towards them. He lets out a big long sigh again, sucking up all the tears before it could even fall out. " Just throw the unnecessary stuffs away for me. I'm going home... " He tells them.

They all watched as he walked towards the exit of the football field. The misery and heartache lingers for a while until he was out of sight...

" Do you think he'll be okay ? " Edna asked worriedly.

" He will... he just needs time. " Bea says.
