❀" Hey Daniel! " Jenny barges into her brother's room. " Is your arm okay ? "
It's been two days since her brother got discharge from the hospital. Apparently after his therapy appointment yesterday, they prescribe him with anti-depressant pills. Not sure if it will actually help him but Jenny was totally against it. So she decided to go with Edna's plan, that hopefully will knock down the oppressive wall Daniel built on his own.
It's a bright Saturday afternoon, and their parents were off to work, leaving the both of them alone at home again.
Daniel looks at his arm, which was wrapped in bandages, and went back to playing his game without saying anything to Jenny. She sits on his bed, and watch as Daniel fixated his eyes on his laptop screen.
" I was hoping you'd want to go out and get some fresh air. I'll drive if you don't want to... drive. " Jenny says and she looks at Daniel to see if he'll agree. She waited for him to say something but he was still focused on his game.
" It's okay if you don't want to... " Jenny sighs but takes a glance towards him to see if he'll give in. But he doesn't budge at all.
Jenny waited for a little while again, but eventually gave up. She got up on her feet, and walked towards the door to exit the room. Now that her plan has failed, she felt very despondent, and lost the hope she had in helping her brother.
" Let me finish this game first.." Daniel surprisingly speaks out before Jenny could leave the room. She quickly turns around, and her once frowned smile, develops into a bright one.
" Tell me when you're done.... " Jenny says. She heads out the door, and entered her own bedroom excitedly. She quickly gets her phone, and dials Edna's phone number to tell her the good news, and that her plan is pulling through. "Edna! Edna! Guess what! " Jenny shrieks out loud as Edna answers after the second ring.
" What ? Did your brother said yes ? " Edna asked, expecting for a good answer.
" Yeah he did and I'm so happy Edna. I thought he would say no.... " Jenny says in pure happiness as she changes her clothes. She puts on a pair of jeans, and her favorite black hoodie.
" That's great Jen! I hope it'll turn out great for him. " Edna answers. By the tone of her voice, she sounded pretty excited, and happy about it too. Especially that it was her advice in the first place.
" I'll call you again once we come back home." Jenny says, combing her hair.
" Okay. You better. Good luck Jen! " Edna says and she hangs up.
There was a knock on Jenny's bedroom door, and it slightly pushed open. " Are you done ? " Jenny asked as Daniel walks in slowly. It's been a long time since he entered her room so it surprises her to see him come in. He gave her a slight nod, and Jenny immediately grabbed her wallet, and the car keys before Daniel could change his mind. " Okay lets go."
They walk out the front door of their house, and locked it. Once they hopped into the car, Jenny drives down the road with her brother on the passenger seat. " You're good at driving now. " He says as Jenny takes a sharp turn to the right, exiting the neighborhood.
Jenny smiled as her eyes focused on the road she was driving on. She thought back to the very first time when he was the one teaching her how to drive. The moment she crashed onto the fence of the parking lot where they usually practice, was the moment she'd never forget. She chuckles after remembering the good times they had, especially when her brother was okay, and unbothered. Jenny promised herself that today, with Daniel by her side again, she'll be able to make new, and better memories with him.
