Part 31: view

"I'll go check on her," I say.
I'm about to get out of the room when the door slides open. It's Ella.
"Are you okay? Are you hurt?" I ask.
"I'm fine, why are you guys so hyped up," Ella says.
Ella sits down and a nurse comes in to take her urine.
"The results should be out in no time when it's out. A doctor will come in." The nurse says.
"Okay, thank you!" Ella says.
The nurse leaves and I sit down. I'm happy that she didn't see Felix or Felix didn't see her.
"What's wrong Candy, you look like you saw a ghost," Wendy says.
"No, I'm fine... just nervous," I say.
(Ting*)
Message from Leo
Leo: Want to meet?
Me: I can't right now, I'm at the hospital. After?
Leo: Are you okay?
Me: I'm fine, we're here to check on the baby.
Leo: oh, okay meet you later. I'll send you the address.
Me: okay

I look up. Ella and Wendy are smiling. Giving me the look.
"What?" I say shyly.
A doctor comes in with a clipboard.
"Hello, Elisa Goldy, I'm Dr. Hale." She reaches out her hand. Ella shakes her hand. She then shakes Wendy's than mine. She then goes and sits down and opens up her computer and looks at the clipboard and at us.
"Congratulations, you are pregnant." The doctor says.
"When can I know the gender of the baby?" Ella asks.
"We can determine the gender when you're 18-20 weeks in."
"Oh," Ella says.
"I'll have to check the condition of the baby... I'll have you lay here for me." She says pointing to the thing, they make you sit on.
Ella gets up and walks over to the thing and lays down. The doctor checks everything.
"Everything is normal, you are healthy, that's what is important. You are still in the first trimester. So be extra cautious. You are doing amazing." The doctor then says.
"Oh that's good," Ella says.
"So I think that will be it for today. Do you have any questions?" The doctor asks.
"No," Ella says.
"Okay!" She says, standing up. She takes out her hand and we all shake it.
"I'll walk you out," she says.
We walk out of the room.
"Thank you!" Ella says.
"Thank you!" Wendy says.

We walk to the parking lot. Wendy is helping Ella along the way.
"Wendy it's fine," Ella says.
"I'll help you. You helped me in my pregnancies with the twins." She says.
I watch and follow them from behind.
I look at my phone and it says my Uber has arrived.
"Hey, you guys get home safely, I have to go somewhere," I say running away before they could ask me where I'm going.

I see the Uber and get in. The Uber drives for a while and stops at this viewpoint on the mountain. I get out and the Uber drives off.
Me: I'm here
I text Leo but he doesn't read it, I walk up the stairs and when I reach the top, I'm breathless. I then see a bench 50 ft from me. I walk there and sit down. I look around for Leo, but he's not there.
Leo: Come down, I have something for you.
"Are you serious, I just came up," I say.
Me: okay
I walk down the stairs and spot Leo's car, I walk to the driver's side but Leo is not in the car. I look around, I can't find Leo.
Me: Where Are You?
I look at my phone, to see if he sees it. Suddenly I feel someone walking behind me. I turn around. It's a random guy. I turn back around. I then turn again, but this time it's an elderly couple. I smile at them, they smile back. I hear someone walking behind me again, but I don't turn around this time. "It's probably some random people." I thought.
I text Leo again.
Me: WHERE ARE YOU?
I then feel some wrapping their hands on my waists and hugging me from behind.
"I'm here!"
I look back and it's Leo. I rotate myself so I'm facing him. He's still holding and hugging me.
"I have something for you!" Leo says.
"What," I say.

Leo walks me to the trunk. The trunk opens. Inside the trunk, there is a big bouquet of red roses. I'm in awe. Leo takes it out and hands it to me. I look and hold it like a baby. I look back at Leo. He's smiling.
"Do you like it?" He asks.
"Of course, Thank you, love," I say.
"Your welcome, anything for you... wait what did you call me?" He asks.
"Nothing," I say.
"No you called me something, can you say it again." He asks.
I hesitate and look at him smiling.
"Thank you, LOVE,"
Leo smiles like he never smiled before. You can see all his teeth.
"Love? Love, love." I say teasing him.
He can't help but smile widely.
"What should I call you?" He asks.
"Call me by my name," I say.
"Noo, let me think... baby?"
"No!"
"Honey?"
"No!"
"Sweetheart?"
"No!"
"Darling?"
"No!"
"This won't do, I'll think of something. let's go up." He says pointing to the stairs.
I look at the stairs. I then feel numb.
"It's okay, let's go, here we can leave them here," Leo says taking the roses and putting them back into the trunk.
We then start our journey up the never-ending stairs.

We reach the top and I'm breathless and tired. Leo on the other hand is fine. No sweat or not even breathless.
"You get tired easily?" He says.
"I'm human, Leo... I'm not like you!" I say.
"That was a piece of cake," he says.
"For you... you train for this, not me.... let's not talk about this..." I say.
We walk to the end of the viewpoint. It's not dark yet, but it's still beautiful. You can see the city.
I look at it in awe.
"Can you believe yesterday," I say
"Yeah, your face though... were you scared?" He asks.
"No... I'm talking about your uncle and my sister." I say.
"Oh," he says, laughing. "The world is small," he says.
"I was thinking the same thing, When did they meet?" I say.
"I don't know," Leo says.
"So your Uncle is really a player?" I ask curiously.
"Yeah... but he is responsible and treats women right," Leo says.

I remember back to the hospital and Felix.
"At least Ella met someone decent," I say.
"Why? What do you mean?" Leo asks.
I try to walk away but Leo grabs my wrist.
"Ouch!" I say.
Leo pulls up my sleeve and looks at my wrist. He then takes my other arm and looks at them.
"Who did this?" He asks, angrily.
"It's nothing," I say, trying to calm him down.
"Candy, your wrists are red and bruised." He says.
"I'm fine, I'm okay," I say.
"Candy, tell me," Leo says, pleadingly.

"It happened when I was in the hospital."
"And?" He says.
"I met Ella's ex at the hospital. When we were going into the doctor's room, Ella's ex called out to her, she and Wendy didn't hear. I saw him though."
"And?" Leo says eagerly.
"I told them I was going to the bathroom and I went to talk to him... he told me he missed her and wanted her back and he said he couldn't live without her. I totally understand but it's too late already. Then I told him that she's getting married. He accused me of lying. He looked down and back up. His expression completely changed." I say at last.
"Let's go sit over there," Leo says, taking me to the bench.
"He thought I was Ella... he grabbed my wrist and told me that he loved Ella and other stuff. I told him to let me go, but he didn't. He grabbed my other wrist and pushed me to the wall. I had enough so I pushed him to the ground. I yelled at him and told him not to bother Ella anymore."
"Who's this guy hurting my girl! Give his name!" Leo says angrily.
"It's fine Leo, I'm okay, I don't think he would bother Ella or me," I say.
"Why are you defending him, he hurt you," Leo says, getting him.
"Leo, it's fine, really!" I say.
"I'll just have to find out for myself," Leo says walking off.
I chase after him and grab him by his waist.
"It's fine, Leo, it's only the first time... if he does it a second time, I won't let him off, please Leo," I say hugging him from behind.
"Okay," he says, agreeing.
He turns around and hugs me.
"Only once," he says.
He then looks at me and smiles.
"Why are you so nice?" He asks.
"I'm not," I say.
We walk back to the edge of the viewpoint and look out on the city.
"It's beautiful," I say.
"It's even prettier at night," Leo says.
Leo looks at me. I notice he's looking, I turn towards him.
"I love you," he says.
I just smile at those words.
"I love you too," I say at last.

After a while of observing we head down. Leo grabs my roses and hands them to me. We get in the car and drive home.
