We finish eating and Mera makes Leo do the dishes by himself, while she insists that I lay down and get rest. She hands me an ice pack. Mera comes and sits next to me on the couch. I can't see but I can hear her.
"My brother spoils you guys too much. You don't even know the basics," she says.
"How many siblings do you have Mera?" I ask curiously.
"I have three older brothers, I'm the youngest. Leo's dad is the oldest," Mera says.
"Oh that's nice being the only girl and having three older brothers," I say.
"Yes, but no. My brothers are a pain in the ass. Especially the last one, he's such a player. He's almost 30, but won't settle down. If he did, he wouldn't be such a playboy... His dad is a pain also. My middle brother is not a pain but he's a workaholic. I feel like I'm their older sister, not the youngest," She finally says.
"You are the glue to your family," I say, taking the ice pack off my eyes.
"How about you?" Mera asks.
"She has three siblings," Leo says walking towards the couch.
He sits down next to me.
"Yeah, I have three other siblings. I have an older brother and sister and a younger brother. You know what's funny?"
"What?" Mera asks.
I look at Leo and back at Mera.
"Leo accused me of cheating on him with my younger brother. At that time he didn't know that that guy was my younger brother." I say.
"Really! Hahaha, that's funny," Mera says laughing.
Leo looks frozen and doesn't react.
"It's getting late Candy, shouldn't we head out?" Leo asks.
"I'm lazy. I don't want to go home. Can I stay the night Mera?"
"Of course, we can talk more!" She says happily.
"Let your parents know though," she adds.
"I live with my sis, I'll let her know," I say.
"Leo, are you staying?"
He nods his head without hesitation.
"Okay, so you guys are going to share a room or?" Mera asks.
I look at Leo and glance down quickly.
"I'll sleep here," Leo says pointing to the couch.
"Okay. Let's go, Candy, I'll show you the room"
I walk with her to the guest room.
"Candy the bathroom is straight ahead." She says.
"Are you going to shower? I'll get you a change of clothes." She says.
"Yeah, thank you," I say.
Mera heads out of the room and I look around the room. I see that Mera has a doctoral degree. She also has a lot of awards. Posted on the walls. I head into the shower and I turn the water on.
Mera comes into the room. And comes into the bathroom.
"I'll put the clothes here...the towels are on the shelves," she says.
"Thanks," I say.
Mera leaves.
I look at the clothes Mera has brought for me. I pick it up. It is a purple silk nightgown, that drapes to the thighs. It has spaghetti straps also. "This is pretty but it's revealing," I say looking at the dress. Matching silk shorts that came with the dress. Its length is shorter than the dress. "let's try it." I thought.
Before heading out of the room, I grab a blanket and wrapped it around myself. I walked outside to the living room.
"Candy, are you cold? Why are you wearing such a heavy," Mera asks.
"The outfit is revealing," I whisper to Mera.
"Really? Let me see!" She says taking off the blanket.
She scans me.
"It's cute, isn't it Leo?" She asks.
"Yeah..." Leo says.
"Okay, quit looking at her like that Leo," Mera says.
I sit down and grab the blanket again and cover myself.
"Oh, I notice you have a doctoral degree, are you a doctor?" I ask.
"Yes, I'm a Pathologist."
"cool, are you not scared," I say.
"No, I'm used to it now," Mera says.
"A few more corpse has been found at Melon park"
The TV headlines read.
"Crazy, who would do this?" I say
"I am supposed to go there tomorrow and transport them back to the hospital," Mera says.
We all sit quietly for a while listening to the news.
Leo gets up and closes the lights. He then sits next to me. Before he stood up, Mera was in between us, now I'm the one in between them.
"I'm cold," Leo says sliding into my blanket.
"Sure you are," Mera says.
After a while, Mera gets up.
"I'm tired, you guys do whatever you want... don't do anything weird," she says walking away, into her room.
I notice that Leo is looking at me but I don't look at him. I just pay attention to what's on the news. Leo leans in and kisses my cheek. I look at him. I get up and move to the other side of the couch.
"You look good, in that dress," Leo says smirkingly.
I notice that I'm not covered. I quickly grab the end of the blanket. But Leo grabs another end of the blanket. The blanket wrestles between us. He pulls me to him, I fall on him. I look up at him. At this rate, I'm drained and don't want to argue with him
"It's cold," I say.
"Sorry," he says, pulling the blanket from under me and putting it on top of me. He holds me tightly.
We continue watching the news.
