Part 20: lights

Message from Ella
Ella: I'm not going to be home, until tomorrow morning. My flight got canceled. See you, miss you.
Me: okay, miss you too. See you.

I make sure everything is locked and walk upstairs. I hear something behind me and I run towards my room. I close and lock the door behind me. I open the lights and walk to my bed. I just lay down on my bed for a while and think about today. The amusement park, the toys, "oops I left it downstairs." The dream, it revisits back to my mind. "It looked so realistic and felt legit. It's was so scary." I say looking around my room.

My light then starts to turn off and on. Then it completely turns off. I grab my phone and go under my blanket. "Omg, why? I'm probably imagining things." I peep out of my blanket, and the room is dark. I get scared and terrified. I go back under my blanket again. I look at my call list. "Should I call Leo? Wait he's probably still driving. I should wait for 10 mins."

(Ten Minutes later)
I'm literally sweating under my blanket. It's so hot my phone is fogging up. I'm so terrified that I have to endure it.
(Calling Leo)
"Hello, I'm still driving."
"l e o !" I say whispering.
"what?" Leo says curiously.
(Incoming FaceTime)
"where r u, why is it dark." He says looking at me and back to the road.
"I'm under my blanket. It's hot." I say.
"silly what you doing there, get out"
"I can't, I'm scared," I say.
"What do you mean?" He asks confused.
"The lights suddenly switched off."
"How long ago was that?" He asks.
"like 15 mins ago"
"I think the lights work now." He then says.
"how do you know?" I ask.
"Because it happened all over the city, I was at my dad's house. The same thing happened."
"really? I'm scared to look, I'll slide you out and you look okay?"
"Okay." He says laughing.

I slide Leo out of my hot sauna.
"are the lights on, what do you see?"
"it's fine, the lights are on. Get out from under your blanket."
"Are you sure?" I ask.
"Yeah, you want to burn in there? Suit yourself."
I slowly peek out of the blanket. I see light. I pushed the blanket away from me and get off my bed.
"man, it was hot, I say picking up my phone.
"You are a crybaby and scary cat and I wonder what else?"
"haha funny. I'm going to shower, talk to you later."
"Take me with you," Leo says.
"no you weirdo, bye I'm hanging up. Goodnight. Tell me when you're home"
"Okay."
I hang up

I go shower and changed into something new. "Haha, I'm such a coward," I say. I walk to my light switch turning it off and then back on. And then officially off. I then walk quickly to my bed. I lay for a while and doze off to dreamland. Hopefully.

I wake up to the sound of walking. Back and forth pace. I get up and go check what it is. Is Ella back already? I open the door and lookout.
"Ella are you home?" I say quietly.
No reply.
"Ella? Ella." I say.
"Yeah, I'm home." Ella walks out of her room.
I go and walk to her and give her a big hug.
"I missed you," I say.
"It's only been three days." She says.
"Three days. Felt like three whole centuries." I say.
"Haha, what happened?" Ella asks.
"Many things, I'll tell you later."
"Okay, I'm going to cook." She says departing downstairs.
"I made fried rice yesterday, can you check if it's still good?" I say shouting.
"Okay." She shouts back.
I go back to my room and go brush my teeth.

(Ring ring ring)
Call from Leo.
"Hello," I say.
"good morning," he says.
"Morning," I say back.
"yesterday my sister liked the toys"
"that's good. I mean they were all cute."
"wyd today?" He then asks.
"I don't know yet, but maybe nothing."
"Do you mind meeting me, I want to tell you something. Later." He says.
"Okay, where?"
"same coffee shop?"
"Okay, see you," I say.

It's almost 12, So I get ready. I'm feeling lazy, "how about some jeans and a hoodie." I say looking at the mirror. "Okay, how about this." I put on a black hoodie and jeans. I wanted to put my hair in a ponytail but the hickey was there."This is okay. Whatever, it's fine." I grab my bag and walk downstairs. "Hey sis, I'm going out, I'll be back," I say putting on my shoes.
"Okay be careful." She says eating the fried rice.
I walked out and my Uber has arrived. I get in and we start our journey to the coffee shop. While sitting in the car, I realize that Leo seemed serious. When he was talking to me. "Is Something wrong?" I thought.
