"This has got to be one of your more idiotic ideas, Aro" Caius breathed out in a hiss as they waltzed their way easily through mud and grime. "Because of you, I am now wasting my Sunday evening trekking through a swamp, ruining my shoes and here, I may not even tear the wretched creatures to pieces when I find them" he continued in a scoff and Aro rolled his eyes as they continued to venture through the trees.

"Caius, Dear Brother, please. It is prime time for us to collect what is owed to us. Their pack is growing and we must act soon or else miss out entirely. And why may that not coincide with a full moon?" the raven-haired king questioned as he looked down at the mud caking his shoes with a strange distaste in his child-like eyes.

"Master, what is stopping them from attacking us? I believed that they could not control themselves in their wolf form?" Alec pondered as he helped Jane gently over a long- unnecessarily and the three kings looked back as he spoke up for the first time during their long journey to the wolf camp.

"When they transform- they lose their conscious decision making and may only act upon instinct. Though, given the treaty- I am positive their loyalty to not hurting us will continue" Aro returned easily, ignoring Caius' bitter expression.

"Hurt us? Aro, they're dogs! They couldn't hurt us if they tried" Caius scoffed, rolling his eyes.

"Perhaps" Marcus mused. "Your hatred for them is growing old, brother. The Blue Pack have been our strong allies for decades."

"Mutated wolves or not, they are still dogs and I believe it to be in our best interest to tear them to shreds the second we lay our eyes on them" Caius informed in a hum, eyes strangely lighting up at the thought of tearing apart the warm body of a wolf with his bare hands. Nobody bothered to entertain his bickering now, though a few of the guards could not help but agree with him on that front. The wolves and the vampires had feuded for decades and it was only Aro's childish delight and fascination that brought them to their camp on their most dangerous of evenings.

It was not much longer, in their silence that the huffing of a human creature met their trained eyes and there were relieved smiles all around that they were now approaching where they needed to be- Caius was of the desire to get their interaction over with and be on their merry way once more. Pausing in a meadow calmly- they waited patiently for what they knew would inevitably come.

"Do try to keep your manners, Brother. It would be unwise to anger a wolf on a full moon" Aro hummed, grinning when Caius shot him an incredibly sour, uninterested expression. The sound of body huffing and feet slamming into the earth was the thing to capture their attention once more and Caius' eyes flashed up involuntarily as they broke through the fringe of the trees. They were rowdy, a collection of mismatched humans with panting, fearful expressions that made Caius want to roll his eyes instantly.

The front of the group was the largest, skin a startling tanned in comparison to the vampires own and his eyes were dark as they pierced into the collection of cold ones. He was large and broad and the second he met Aro's eyes; he managed to collect himself though his heart hammered in apparent fear. On either of his sides stood two gentlemen- both rather similar to him in appearance though they were shorter, one's eyes were wise and fearful as his Alphas though the other was smirking incredibly arrogantly which irritated Caius the second he saw it.

Though in the next moment- Caius' attention was completely captured away and nothing mattered any longer. The mud caking his expensive shoes and the edge of his cloak didn't matter anymore. The wind musing his hair didn't matter- and the arrogant wolf didn't either. Because when his eyes fell upon her, she became the only thing that mattered and he absolutely hated it. She was beautiful, more so than any vampire he had ever seen and everything about her was wonderfully warm; from her doe eyes to her long dark curls and her tanned skin. Everything.

His new fascination caused only anger in his heart as she stared at him like a statue, features unmoving. But as he watched her, ignorant to the words leaving the alpha's mouth- he wanted nothing more than to draw her into his arms and keep her locked there, safely away from harm.

In the next second, his heartfelt almost (for the shortest second) as though it could restart as she grunted and collapsed onto her knees in a vision of pain though she controlled it rather well despite the way her leg twisted uncomfortably.

"This is an idiotic idea, Aro. We should kill them now- While they are weak" Caius piped up, grin glittering demonically as he watched the wolves grunt and convulse only slightly. Though screeches could be heard shooting through the trees like bullets from the distance. In truth, he didn't know why he said what he did- Because as he watched her with intent, clear eyes; the last thing he wanted was to cause her any further pain. The sound of her cry seemed to burst a bolt of pain through him and he knew his words had come from a place of anger- fury at this new connection that he did not want.

"If you are here to murder us as we transform- You shall be greatly disappointed" their leader hissed before cringing slightly. "No war will take place this evening. Kill us now and you shall be met with no resistance. You are now protected by wolf law" he demanded before slamming his hand into the earth slightly aggressively. Caius frowned, though was slightly excited about the idea of tearing through the wolf pack without any retaliation as he swished his eyes quickly over to Aro who frowned as he took Marcus' outstretched hand.

Caius huffed as his brothers had a silent exchange- one that he was not a part of as their features lit with expressions of awed excitement- even Marcus cracking the most minor of smiles as he watched them convulse. Caius didn't have the energy to care what they were so excited about as he turned his gaze back to the whimpering girl who brought him such fascination.

Only, when his ruby eyes did inevitably fall upon her- she was gone. In her place, stood proudly on the spot was a large wolf- easily as tall as a horse with rippling muscles and swaying thick grey fur that appeared so strangely soft as he stared at her. At her side stood her brother, impossibly taller than her with his body a dark raven black.

All was eerily silent as he took in the beasts for the first time and as he blinked at the only female wolf, beautiful awe swept through him.

He absolutely hated it...
