Caius couldn't help but stare at the large grey wolf that towered quite magnificently over him. For the longest moment, there was silence as the wolves breathed in their new forms- And then there was more. The grey wolf which had once been the woman- looked over somewhat expectantly at the Alpha and he blinked back in return. It was some form of silent exchange that continued to confuse the vampires.

"What's happening?" Aro frowned, eyes shifting between the grey wolf and her brothers.

"I don't bloody know, do I? I don't speak dog" Caius bit back in silent annoyance- knowing that they were now stuck there for impossibly longer. They couldn't negotiate anything with the dogs that were currently pacing around in front of them. It wasn't how Caius planned his Sunday evening but as he stared at her- He couldn't help but be glad that he came. There mere thought of it angered him and he became rather sick with the tornado of emotions that rocketed around inside him.

As if in answer to their questions, the wolves turned to them with clear eyes and the two males vanished at speed- Leaving them alone with the beautiful female wolf for the first time and she continued to stare with peculiar intelligence- eyes passing over the three kings and then landing on each of the four guards they had brought with them. Then the doe eyes were on Caius again and he couldn't help but stare with a bemused fascination as the wolf huffed gently at him, unmoving.

"Adolpha Blackwood" Aro stated calmly, gesturing with his hand as though he was presenting her though the wolf didn't so much as flinch- unaffected by her own name in her new form. She wouldn't respond to 'Adolpha' now. "Beta of the Blue Pack" he hummed, pleasantly surprised to see the wolf huff and lay gently onto her stomach, resting her large head on her paws in silence as she waited at the feet of Caius Volturi. This was her instinct.

Caius wanted desperately to hate the wolf that sat so calmly beside him but he couldn't find it in his heart to do so and that made him angrier than hatred ever could. Ignorant to the way the wolfs eyes saddened, he turned on his heel and sat with irritation beside the guards on a log as Aro and Marcus exchanged glances- overly aware of the wolf watching them as if on guard.

Despite the way Adolpha sat, she was not calm and in the next moment, it was clear why. The beautifully majestic grey wolf lept to her feet, a grown of anger leaving through her teeth as a second wolf slid into the meadow and there was something curiously familiar about the wolves eyes. It seen became clear that he was the wolf who entered the meadow with them originally- Caius hadn't even noticed that he'd left but he now seemed incredibly angry as he eyed the blond king.

"Fabulous" Caius hummed, voice void of emotion as he leapt to his feet, watching the wolf that stared at him in return. "We can have a fight after all."

"Caius" Aro warned, holding an arm to him- Forcing him to remain where he stood, though he did so rather begrudgingly as he watched the two wolves face off. Somehow, the grey wolf was impossibly larger than the new brown wolf but there was certain anger in the other eyes that made him seem increasingly scarier than Adolpha could ever possibly be.

As the Volturi watched curiously, they seemed to be communicating in whatever peculiar way they did. It was only shortly into this 'conversation' that the brown wolf snapped. Chann leapt at the blond king who was stood smoothly- uncaring like a statue as he waited to lay his hands on the brown wolf. He never got the opportunity however, as the second the brown wolf lunged, the grey wolf was atop of it. They rolled together carelessly away from the vampires who were as uncaring as they had been throughout the entire ordeal.

"They're fighting" Jane recognised in awe as the two of them snapped at one another with enough venom to indicate that it was something much more than a game. With a glance back at the kings only once, Adolpha threw Chann across into the trees once more and they vanished, swallowed by the darkness of the forest as howls swam in from the distance.

"What the hell is going on?" Caius finally relented, seeing that Aro was practically itching to tell him as he crossed his arms securely over his chest.

"Adolpha was protecting you" Aro hummed.

"Yes, brother. We got that part" Caius spat bitterly, much to the amusement of both his brothers and the confusion of the guard.

"The Blue Wolves are special because upon their first full moon- they become frozen. The wolves will stay the same in appearance for perhaps centuries... Like us." Aro started the story, annoying Caius who just wanted the answer to his question and didn't particularly care about any of the other information. "That is because of soulmates" Caius rolled his eyes. "Every wolf has a soul mate, but there is no guaranteeing that their soulmate will be born at the same time as them. So the wolves will live continually until they meet their mate. At which point, the wolf will continue to live on in their youthful body as their imprint ages- At the time of their imprints death, the wolf will die too. This is to ensure that the imprint can receive the fullest strength and protection."

"I hardly see how any of that is relevant."

"It's relevant brother- Because Adolpha Blackwood imprinted on you."
