Adolpha Blackwood frowned as a bright light shone over her eyes where she was currently lying, the sun burning its way in through the large glass windows. But, although being awake, she didn't move from her position curled up in the pristine bedsheets. It had been three days and she had not seen anybody during that time. The sky was so beautiful beyond the window and she knew as she watched it with bright eyes that that was what her life consisted of now. She was resigned to live in a tower for the rest of her life.
"Well, don't you look miserable" there was something so pleased about the way he said it, smug even and despite how completely warmed and appreciative Adolpha was to see him after all these days, she did a good show at not caring as she continued to lay there- unmoving- as if she hadn't heard him at all. Caius clicked his tongue, eyes scanning the room as he easily walked in, pacing back and forth in front of the large windows that he was surprised to find open despite the brightness they leaked through as she tried to sleep.
"I thought we agreed to stay away from one another?" she mused, voice flat and he frowned at her, arms crossing tightly over his chest as his eyes finally came to rest on her. Though the werewolf continued to blink uncaringly at the city beyond the window.
"Believe it or not, Scooby-Doo. I thought you would appreciate some company. I was told its protocol to walk the dog every once in a while" he attempted to tease and she just rose one eyebrow at him. She wouldn't give him the satisfaction of thinking that she was happy to see him. Maybe that was stubborn of her but she didn't care because three days ago she had been dumped in a pretty room with no company and nothing more than three meals a day randomly appearing in the doorway.
"Listen, Dracula. I don't give a shit what you do with your life. I have to stay here to protect you; something which is actually impossible seeing as though for every night of the month bar one, I am human. So off you go to shag your equally old lady vamp wife and I will happily sit here in the pretty room you've provided and mind my own damn business" she retorted and the vampire king whipped around to face her in shock.
"Who told you she was my wife?"
"I'm Scooby-Doo, remember? Doesn't take a genius to put together the pieces" she returned, sighing as she pulled herself to sit, pulling the covers with her and she promptly lept in shock as he flopped down onto the bed beside her calmly; eyes scanning over the collection of books on the bedding that she had pulled from the library in the last few days. "Truthfully, I wasn't certain. But you have confirmed."
"Well, yes. I suppose I have. That delightful creature is my wife of two thousand years" he hummed, aware of the way she swallowed somewhat sadly. Adolpha may have been a brilliant actress but Caius Volturi was an equally brilliant observer and he was positive she was more effected about his wife situation than she let on.
"Marvellous. I'm sure the two of us will get on brilliantly. Perhaps you should arrange a tea party" she scoffed, snatching the book from his hands effortlessly and he sent her a side smirk and a chuckle from where he lay comfortably on his elbow to keep his upper body propped up. Though, he was incredibly comfortable lying there with his expensive suit and amused expression.
"Oh, don't delude yourself, Love. Athenodora would rip you in half if she knew who you were." he chuckled, eyes scanning the rose canopy above absentmindedly.
"Glad to hear your concern" she retorted bitterly.
"I never said I cared" he returned. "I have offered my home to you, unsettled my marriage, and even had the decency to pay you a visit... But I never said I cared."
"I never asked you too, Jackass." she reminded, huffing as she lay down with a huff, snuggling back into the warmth of the bed. "I would happily be living my life right now but instead I'm stuck here with you."
"I can leave again?"
"Please"
"But your distaste for my presence makes me want to stay" he smirked before lapsing into a gentle hum, eyes scanning over the glass window. Adolpha fascinated him, she was interesting even when she wasn't trying to be and it was that excitement which he was drawn to. He knew exactly the routine that would take place if he visited Atheodora, nothing ever changed between them. Adolpha huffed and rolled her eyes.
The girl froze however when she saw how incredibly tense he had become, her heart fluttered, betraying her. Caius' turned his stony expression on her and all signs of playful teasing had vanished from his expression as she looked into his inky black orbs of his.
"Did you just roll your eyes at me, Adolpha?"
"No" she returned, eyes wide and he tilted his head as he assessed her. Each passing second made her grow nervous and she gasped in shock when he suddenly moved. In less than a second, Caius had her pinned beneath his lean strong body, pressing her into the bed as he hovered above her with his evil eyes and she blinked and stuttered in shock at their closeness.
"I have warned you, Adolpha. Time and time again."
"Yet, you never do anything about it" she returned, not entirely sure why she had said such a darlingly challenging thing to him at that moment, perhaps his closeness made her mind grow fuzzy or maybe she was just fed up with his empty demands. "Does your wife get the same demands?" she returned bitterly. He hovered less than an inch away from her though they didn't touch. She was merely consumed by the scent of him.
"Perhaps I haven't delivered on my promise because I know that you could not take it yet. Maybe I am tallying up your offences to properly punish you when the time is right. My wife knows her place, Adolpha which is something you are yet to learn." he returned carefully, each word flowing like water and if there wasn't such a deadly evil in his tone- she was sure that she would be calmed by the sound of it.
"You're a sadist" Adolpha frowned with a scoff of realisation as she squirmed involuntarily below him.
