"Is that all you own?" was the first sentence Caius Volturi ever spoke to her and Adolpha Blackwood couldn't help but raise one perfectly plucked and pleasantly unimpressed eyebrow. His face was one comparable to stone as he stared unblinkingly at her and she knew she should be at least slightly intimidated- But she wasn't.

"Yes, is that a problem?"

"No, I'm not entirely sure what I was expecting from a bunch of savages really." he mused, eyes scanning over the trees, glad that they were finally getting out of there and going home. It had been a long night. Adolpha, on the other hand, hadn't even left her house yet and was already fed up with the man she was stuck with for the rest of eternity.

"Yeah, whatever Dracula. My one bag undoubtedly has more colour combinations than your entire wardrobe combined. You overgrown bat." she huffed and graciously accepted the offer of the muscly guard as he opened her car door for her. Adolpha smiled pleasantly at Felix as he closed the door carefully behind her though her look of disdain quickly painted itself on her features once more when Caius took up the seat beside her.

"Careful love, you don't want to use up all your insults in one sentence. It's going to be a long eternity" he hummed somewhat miserably and she sighed in agreement as she clipped her seatbelt into place. It hadn't even been five minutes and she already knew that he was going to be trouble. She just wished she didn't love it so much.

"Don't I know it"

"Aren't you supposed to be blindly in love with me? Your disgusted expression says otherwise." he hummed, easily avoiding her gaze as their expensive car was swallowed up by the green of the forest- An impassive Demetri behind the wheel.

"Well, I'm bound to protect you and make sure your life is as marvellous as it could possibly be. Seeing as though you're living the miserable life of a hermit right now; it's not exactly a difficult task now, is it? I could try to set you on fire and your life would still have significantly improved." she winked.

"Your wolf seemed to disagree," Caius responded, no expression cracking along his face.

"Yes well, my wolf has an absence of rational thought and presumed it better to take a solid chunk out of my incessant admirer than allow my equally incessant imprintee to suffer decapitation." Adolpha clipped and Caius rose an eyebrow at her.

"Speaking logically; the castle has over fifty rooms so I say you stay as far away from me as physically possible and the both of us continue on living the lives we so desperately desire"

"Couldn't agree more." she nodded and was much appeased at the idea that the conversation was over. Of course, she was not to be so lucky and Caius was childlike in his disdain toward her.

"Do you require a dog house, Darling? We could get you a bowl with your name inscribed and a pretty little leash that matches your outfit." he teased and she frowned, unamused. His blatant teasing of her; the fact that he was continuing their conversation with humour in his tone whilst he could very easily have gone on to ignore her- Suggested that he wanted to speak to her, at least a little bit.

"How many more of these do you have?" she questioned softly though was certain he heard her loud and clear. Adolpha leant impossibly far away from him though she couldn't help but notice how marvellous he smelt- like all things good in the world. And it surprised her to find that Demetri did too. There had been many complaints from her fellow wolves that vampires smelt terrible; having never met one before, that was just what she had come to believe. She was now proved wrong.

"Many many more, so I would start thinking up some good comebacks if I were you" he mused.

"Not if I am never going to speak to you again, which is what I very much intend on. The second we arrive back at your mouldy ass dungeon castle- I'm going to stay as far away as the vicinity physically allows." Adolpha informed calmly and he rose an eyebrow at her though she could not decipher what was going through his mind.

"You're not what I thought you would be like" he blinked and she frowned as she realised how rarely he completed the human action. Blinking was unnecessary to him.

"And what exactly did you expect?"

"I thought my continual usage of the word was enough..." he began and she rolled her warm doe eyes.

"A savage" she nodded, scoffing.

"Primitive and uncivilised" Caius nodded, seemingly rather proud of himself and she merely clicked her tongue and turned her gaze back to the world beyond the window.

"You can hardly talk. What kind of idiot vampire waltzes into a werewolf camp on a full moon?"

"A devilishly handsome vampire king." Caius snapped back within a second and she turned to him with a raised eyebrow, instantly shaking her head when she witnessed his proud smirk.

"With an ego higher than the moon itself" she rolled her eyes. The next second, she jumped in shock as his cold hand grabbed her hot one, causing her to look at him in shock. Caius' face had become one of complete seriousness once more as he stared at her with cold eyes.

"Word of warning, Adolpha. I will not tolerate disrespect. I can accept your jokes and insults. But do not roll your eyes at me."

"That's the thing that gets you angry? Eye rolls?" she scoffed as she snatched her hand from his again and Caius hummed softly, turning to face the front once more.

"It was just a warning, Adolpha. You would not like to see my angry" Caius remarked, tapping his knee gently in a strangely human gesture that reminded her that there must be a soul within him somewhere.

"This is you happy?" she questioned in joking disbelief.

"Mildly disapproving. I don't often wear happiness."
