soobin woke up to the sound of his alarm ringing. as usual, the purple-haired boy pressed the snooze button groggily.
despite having the precious, extra minutes to sleep in, soobin's mind was already awake. his body said otherwise.
he tiredly trudged up from the comfort of his bed to get ready for hell.
hell meaning school for choi soobin.
the sound of his dragging feet echoed throughout his entire apartment, everyone had already left.
everyone referred to his mom, who worked from the wee hours of the morning till the crack of dawn.
despite the pit of loneliness he felt in heart daily, he couldn't blame his mother for not being there all the time. after all, she's holding their lives together.
soobin couldn't blame his dad either for falling sick. he couldn't blame his dad for passing away. he could only blame cancer for an absent father.
so soobin tried to do all he could to chip in for his living expenses. he didn't want to let his mother suffer alone.
when he turned 16, soobin decided to work at a bakery shop that wasn't too far from home. he didn't mind if he occasionally saw his school mates judging his work when they dropped by the shop. he found that the aroma of heavenly, baked goods caused a great deal of comfort in his heart.
soobin took a quick shower and ate a bowl of cereal alongside a red bean bun. he rarely used his phone for social media but kept up with the news circulating the corrupted world he lived in.
soobin quickly grabbed a loose grey sweatshirt from his closet and put it over himself to shield himself from the cold breeze coming through the window.
with hesitation dawning over his next few movements, soobin pulled out a stick from his packet of cigarettes.
the purple-haired boy knew it was bad for his health but a rush of relief always took over him when his nerves needed to be calmed. he wasn't a heavy smoker like most guys in his school, he just needed one when he felt like it.
he showed little to no reaction at all as he inhaled the intoxicated smoke from the simple, white stick. with a sigh of relief, soobin took 3-4 more puffs before flicking the partially-finished stick out of the window.
see? he didn't need to smoke the whole stick out. however, soobin felt a tint of happiness once he finished the remainder of his red bean bun.
although soobin finds contentment in the littlest things, he can't help but wonder what a big difference it would make if he put himself out there in the scary world.
he decided that he only needed himself and his mother in life. there were efforts made by other people in befriending soobin but the 18 year old pushed them away in the gentlest way possible.
once soobin had finished preparing himself, he contemplated on whether he should ditch classes that day. there was no doubt that he was one of the many few students who did well for his overall grades. however, he didn't feel like seeing the dreadful attitudes of his classmates that day.
as he walked out of his humble abode with heavy footsteps, soobin remained conflicted on what he should do that day. his thoughts were disrupted when he felt a slight shove from a person's shoulder.
"god, watch where you're going!" the voice of a female irritatedly rang, snapping soobin out of his thoughts.
evidently enough, he bumped straight past her when he let his mind wander causing him to be unaware of the people around him.
"sorry," he mumbled as he picked up her books and papers that littered the ground.
"what do you think you're doing?" the girl asked him, confusion tinted in her eyes as she eyed the purple-haired boy who had bumped into her.
"um, helping you?"
"it's weird"
soobin stacked what seemed to be worksheets of literature, neatly and made eye contact with the brown-haired girl.
"a thank you would suffice," soobin grumbled as he handed over her things to her.
he turned his heel and walked away from the rather, rude girl and made his way to whoever the hell his feet took him.
the brunette girl, aera , could only grin softly to herself as she trailed behind the same direction as the boy she just encountered with.
"he's definitely not like the jackasses in my school,"
