"alright mark! pay up your debts," yeonjun smirked at the scowling boy seated across him.

"i'm only paying up when they're officially dating," mark snapped causing yeonjun to roll his eyes.

"fine, you sore loser," yeonjun stuck out his tongue at the mixed canadian-korean boy.

"i'm changing the bet. i doubt that that boy can get into aera's pants. if he does, i'm raising it to $450!"

yeonjun stood with his mouth agape. he didn't like where it was going.

they were literally betting on both individuals' pride here.

"how would you even know if they did it?" yeonjun questioned, hoping that mark would think before speaking.

"i would know. i'd just have to get my answers from either jeno or jaemin," mark smirked as he thought of the gullible boys.

"but they're her best friends, i don't think they'd rat out on her like that," yeonjun sputtered out in disbelief at the tea mark spilt.

"and they owe me something in order for their secrets to be contained. i believe aera's secrets are exchangeable enough from them for what they're hiding behind those innocent features,"

"so you're blackmailing them?"

"that's right," mark sneered as he turned his heel to walk away from the blonde boy.

-

"aera, do you perhaps have a crush on soobin?" jaemin teased as he walked alongside the petite girl.

aera felt a slight thump of her heart beat but shook it off as she avoided the lines of the floor tiles. (a/n i literally still do this lol)

"i find him interesting,"

"you find a guy who helps pick up your school books interesting? a guy from our school?" jaemin questioned curiously.

"yes. what's with the questions jaem?" aera irritably asked.

jaemin shrugged his shoulders as his lips tugged into a smirk. he had a feeling that aera found soobin more than just intriguing.

-

soobin sat bored during literature class again. he could feel the burning stares of aera's admirers burning into his skin. occasionally, he would accidentally make eye contact with the girl.

soobin wished to turn back time and allow yeonjun to just lose his $300. he felt extremely awkward now that eyes were on him for flirting shamelessly with the school's so-called 'forbidden fruit'

soobin would rather fall asleep than fall in love.

it couldn't be that hard right? he had no romantic bone in his body and couldn't possibly fall in love with a girl he still finds obnoxious.

all he has to do is break up with her after being with her long enough for everyone to believe.

soobin cursed at himself for wondering how shallow he was going for money. it was wrong to play with her feelings but he couldn't help but dive into temptation.

he had it hard while other students placed stupid bets as if money was free.

now that he had the chance to have it easy, he was holding back and he hated that the soft side of his heart had resurfaced after being tucked away in the past.
