being slapped by the other bimbos in the school had become a monthly thing for aera.

however, it felt different this time.

aera stood unfazed in front of minji, a girl popular for sleeping with multiple guys. aera felt a mixture of disgust and self-pity that she had to deal with minji's bullshit again.

"heard you were sleeping around with jaemin. didn't i tell you to stay away from him? he's MINE," minji growled at aera, who only scoffed in return.

"last month was jeno, now it's jaemin? make up your fucking mind, god you're infuriating!" aera spat out with disgust as she earned another slap from minji.

"don't talk back slut," minji cackled at the last word as she pulled aera's hair back.

"as if either of them would be interested in someone like you," aera sarcastically beamed, knowing minji was provoked.

with that comment said, minji started slapping and kicking the petite girl alongside her minions. minji was used to getting whatever she wanted. any signs of objection was a death wish.

aera felt helpless.

she didn't need jeno or jaemin to get involved with her problems, minji has dangerous connections that could potentially cause trauma.

so she held in her tears and took it like a woman. she wasn't surprised if she went home to find hues of blue and purple littered all over her body.

before minji could blow another harsh kick to aera's torso, a familiar purple-haired boy pushed the girls away from aera.

"i think you've done a bit much," soobin glared at the girl whose sweat caused her makeup to start running.

"leave before something bad happens to you," aera croaked out weakly.

minji beamed narcissistically, delighted to know that aera acknowledged her power. her little triumphant act was over by the time soobin stood up from his crouched position.

his tall figure towered over minji. his eyes darkened as he smirked at the now, cowering girl. with his built and cold aura, anyone was destined to feel intimidated by soobin.

"touch aera again and i'll make sure to paralyse your arms and legs. if you think you can hurt me next, go ahead and try. i have nothing to lose to a fucking brat like you," soobin kept his composure as the words seethed out of his tongue.

minji gulped in response as she and her minions scurried out of the scene. soobin turned back to face aera, breathing a sigh of relief that the petite girl hadn't passed out from exhaustion.

"can you stand?" soobin asked worriedly as the girl stumbled to get on her feet failingly.

soobin felt a sense of pity towards aera who was trying to hold herself together in front of him. she only nodded in response but her actions contradicted that she was okay.

soobin picked up her littered belongings and packed them neatly into her bag which was thrown at the side.

aera watched him in confusion as he slung her yellow bag onto his shoulder.

without thinking twice, soobin halted aera up gently and carried her in his arms. aera yelped out in surprise causing soobin to break into a small smile.

"um, we were supposed to have lunch after school but i guess i'm taking you home instead,"

aera's eyes widened when he mentioned he was taking her home and shook her head furiously in opposition to his idea.

"i can't go home looking like this soobin," aera mumbled sadly.

he looked into her sad eyes and saw fear masked behind it. aera was genuinely terrified of what may happen if her parents found out she got beaten up.
