"yeonjun, tell mark he's being fucking ridiculous," soobin deadpanned as yeonjun walked timidly behind him.

"he doesn't even know that i told you about the bet!" yeonjun exclaimed loudly, earning stares from students walking by.

soobin stopped walking and turned to face yeonjun. after a sleepless night of thinking, he couldn't bring himself to do something so low to aera.

"then make him know. if he wants to plot revenge against aera, tell him to do something else rather than betting on someone else's virginity," soobin snapped.

yeonjun pondered for a moment before turning his heel, walking away from soobin.

with his back facing his locker, jeno had heard the entire conversation between yeonjun and soobin.

his blood was boiling with anger as he desperately wanted to beat the shit out of them; especially mark.

"so? spill the fucking tea!" jaemin squealed as he sat in front of aera in the literature classroom.

aera bit her lip anxiously, pondering whether or not she should tell jaemin the truth. the brunette girl let out a sad sigh and began explaining the previous day's events.

jaemin listened intently, feeling a song of guilt in his heart as he finally knew the reasons behind aera's frequent bruises.

jaemin stood up from his seat and hugged aera from behind, pouting that he wasn't able to do much to help her.

"call me next time okay? i'll beat the shit out of minji if i have to," jaemin spat out in disgust as he said minji's name.

aera nodded and patted the boy's arm, indicating she wouldn't hide anything from him anymore.

"thank god for soobin huh?" jaemin teases only for aera to blush again.

the bell rang and everyone returned back to their seats. jeno and soobin were nowhere in sight.

"where are they?" aera whispered to jaemin.

the blue-haired boy shrugged his shoulders and continued reading the assigned book. aera only sighed in disappointment and went on to do her work.

"hello soobin," mark grinned as he stood in front of the purple-haired boy.

"mark. apparently, you're full of surprises aren't you? you didn't need 6 year olds to threaten me you know," soobin exasperated sarcastically as he motioned towards hueningkai and jisung.

the two boys glared at soobin who only chuckled in response.

"duly noted! now, i'm sure you know about the bets yeonjun and i placed on aera," mark said, disgust dripping from his lips when he mentioned aera.

soobin nodded his head solemnly as he leaned his back against the lockers.

"i'm glad you wanted me to know! i'm willing to raise the stakes higher you know," mark trailed off and smirked at the now curious boy.

"what do you expect me to do?"

"taking her virginity seemed low, i apologise for that. while the stakes are raised higher, i plan on going even lower!" mark retorted back with soobin internally rolling his eyes at the canadian boy in front of him.

"i want you to break her. break her heart for all i care. i need to see her broken," mark solemnly admitted.

something about the shift in mark's aura made soobin wonder. he came out childish at first but now his words seemed bitter and sad.

"what beef did you have with aera?" soobin questioned causing mark to sigh deeply.

"none of your concern. i just need to see her broken. that's all,"

"and the price?"

"as much as you need. don't worry, my family's loaded. the amount you need is probably equivalent to 0.01% of the total," mark boasted.

"just when i thought i could empathise with you. your pride makes me want to puke," soobin jeered.

mark only let out a light chuckle and raised his hands up in defence.

"as much as i seem like an asshole, i'm pretty nice. sorry we had to meet in such circumstances," mark said as he extended his hand out to soobin.

"i better not regret anything," soobin hesitantly shook mark's hand.

then again, soobin unknowingly knew that jeno heard everything.

jeno, who was peeking from the end of the hallway, had witnessed something that could break his best friend.

although he hated mark's guts, mark used to be like a brother to him; hurt just turned out to be a feeling that brought the worst out in everyone.

jeno couldn't help but think that aera deserved what was coming to her.
