"hey, i'm back! i bought ramyeon and all sorts of bread—"
soobin paused mid-sentence as he noticed the living room was empty. he placed the food he bought on the dining table and made his way to his room, the door left slightly ajar.
to his surprise and concern, the girl was soundlessly asleep on his bed. as he made his way over to her, he noticed her tear-stained cheeks.
soobin sighed sadly, still able to empathise with aera despite his first impression of her that day. he wasn't able to tell if going through yeonjun's bet was still on his agenda.
because for the first time in a while, he was able to take care of someone who wasn't his family. aera sparked a realisation in soobin that made him feel like a normal teenager.
however, his thoughts were pushed away at his own will again. the stubbornness in him forbidding him to have such soft thoughts towards anyone.
he made a choice to go through with the bet, so he'll stick to it.

aera fluttered her eyes open, greeted by a golden beam of light— golden hour.
it wasn't too late since she arrived at soobin's house but it was already late afternoon. she quickly sat up from the bed in embarrassment once she noticed soobin who had walked in the room.
"good morning milady" soobin smirked as he held a tray with a bowl of steaming ramyeon and a chocolate croissant on the side.
aera was flustered and tried to stand up, only for the same sharp pains to shoot throughout her whole body. she bit her lip as her expression showed pain.
"sit down and eat," soobin laughed as he brought the tray of food over to her.
although it was simple, aera blushed at the kind gesture made by the dimpled boy.
"thank you soobin," aera said softly as she dug into the ramyeon he had cooked.
"well, i'm sorry if it's cooked weirdly? i can't really cook for shit" soobin shyly said as he rubbed the nape of his neck.
"i honestly find it okay" aera giggled as she slurped down the noodles.
soobin sat on the floor as he watched the girl eat, feeling contented that she was looking brighter. he's been feeling a rollercoaster of emotions for the past two days.
he was still unable to tell if it was just the guilt of hurting her obliviousness or if he might see himself with her someday.
he shook off his thoughts again for the nth time that day and stood up from the floor.
"hey, once you're done, i'll walk you home,"
aera simply nodded as she tore the croissant in an uneven half, only to eat the bigger piece first.
soobin felt an unfamiliar beating of his heart as he witnessed her adorable mannerisms.
he smiled to himself as he made his way out of the room and plopped himself on the sofa.
