the minute aera strolled back into school, all eyes were immediately fixated on her.

the brunette felt uncomfortable with the murmurs and stared directed at her but shrugged it off the moment she found her best friends.

"i'm back~" aera sang while the two boys embraced her in a tight hug.

"PARK AERA IS BACK BITCHES" jaemin screamed, earning the attention from multiple students.

the golden trio hysterically laughed amongst themselves without a care in the world.

aera felt a tint of contentment in her heart as she watched her best friends' laughter fill the atmosphere around them.

aera looked around to spot any familiar faces. she truly missed school even though it was hell.

the petite girl scanned through the sea of students and locked eyes with mark lee, who had noticed her presence again.

aera didn't know how to feel but decided to send a small smile towards mark.

mark, in return, waved at the girl while mouthing the words ' welcome back ' and ' i'm sorry again '

aera nodded slightly before her attention was diverted to a screeching jaemin, who was attacking jeno for spilling his coffee.

"i fucking swear lee jeno, if you don't run to the nearest starbucks right now, i'm going to abduct your cats and dye them PINK," jaemin rambled loudly as he clutched onto jeno's shirt.

"listen here you demon, take anything but my CATS. touch them and you die," jeno bickered back as jaemin let go of his shirt before fuming angrily.

aera giggled at the two boys while grabbing her books from her locker.

"come on infants, we have to get to class," aera said softly at her friends who immediately stopped their argument on cats and coffee.

"oh yea, have you guys finished writing your literature pieces? we have to either present it today or tomorrow," jeno asked only for jaemin and aera to look at him in disbelief.

"and you're only saying this now?!" jaemin and aera exclaimed.

jeno smiled sheepishly, his eye smile immediately making both, jaemin and aera, soft.

"it's okay, there's still tomorrow," jaemin grumbled as he snobbed jeno, who was acting cute in order to be forgiven.

as they entered the literature classroom, aera's eyes immediately scanned the room to detect soobin's presence.

sure enough, he was looking right at her. the pair both froze in their spots, unsure of how to react.

soobin was the first to turn away, acting as if they were strangers.

aera decided to turn away too, her heart suddenly beating out of her chest as if it wanted to get out and fly towards choi soobin.

"alright class, settle down. today a few of you guys will be presenting your different literature pieces with the theme being 'emotions' "

the class immediately scurried back to their seats, fearing that their rowdiness might cause one of them to be picked first.

"choi soobin, i suggest that you don't sleep in my class. heads up please,"

soobin stayed unmoved as he was stuck in his daze. the literature teacher, ms kim, only rolled her eyes before calling out the dimpled boy again.

"choi soobin," ms kim called out sternly, finally getting soobin's attention.

"yes what is it?" soobin his head off his desk before slouching tiredly in his seat.

"come up and share what you've written,"

soobin tiredly rummaged through his papers before pulling out what seemed to be his homework.

he trudged his feet in fatigue towards the front of the class before holding up the paper.

his eyes widened at the title of his piece before he started internally panicking for grabbing the wrong paper.

"i don't have all day soobin," ms liu tapped her foot impatiently and rose a brow at the flustered boy.
