I've been thinking and that is usually never really a good thing if done by me...

I just thought it might be cool to read stuff that others think.

Today's topic is religion, and I know I might attract a cuppa haters with this but I'mma take the shot. Hear me out before you tryna hate, fellas.

I'm not against religion. I was raised a Catholic.

For me, this is also a delicate topic because I don't really know what I believe in anymore/ yet. So yeah, I guess this kinda has a message but is 90% for entertainment (and it kinda has some backstory on myself in it, I'm sorry...) so... idk let's get started.

I never really understood what we go to church for. Having this question growing more and more by the time.
The guy who helped make me (I'm not gonna say father because that was never what he was, but you catch my drift) is a pastor. If he'd hear my opinion on this and what I believe in he'd probably smack me to hell with a newspaper but, aye free speech, ain't it?
Seeing how people react to the preaches done by them, was exciting. Some woman had hypnosis done on her. The dude touched her and she flopped to the floor like a dead fish, I shit you not. Little me didn't know what was going on but looking back... aiight fam, you do you. Others were laying on the floor, shivering like fish outta the water, praying and passing out in the progress. I was... confused? And I'm not talking any Voodoo stuff, this was Catholic as well.
However, I guess my bias against churches lies in the fact that I never liked that pastor that created me and that I was forced to go to that church to see him but - ugh... (it was fucked up, I hated every second of it...)
The only cool thing about this is probably that I saw interpreters doing their work because the pastors preached in English but they had people translate it for Germans. And the Gospel was way groovier than what I was used to from regular Catholic church before. Had a lot more volume, too tho. I felt my teeth vibrate, y'all.
I could get why people were mad at it being so loud but on the other hand:

Let people express their love to God! You wouldn't want anybody to tell you how you can believe and how you're not supposed to. If you wanna pray in silence, fam that's fine. But next time you hear a Gospel choir groovin' the whole town and expressing their love for Jesus and God, let them be. Let them pray, let them live, let them love.

Nevertheless, there's this great thing my Grandma told me and I will never forget this and use it in any argument about me not going to church anytime (Especially Christmas Eve... hehe):

You don't have to go to church in order to pray and in order for the Lord to hear you. He's there for you everywhere, any time. He'll hear you reaching out to him in church, in the car and at home. If I wanna talk to the Lord, I don't have to go to church. I could sit on the toilet and talk to him and he'd still hear me.

And I just think that's pretty accurate for me, since I was raised in the belief that God is, in fact, everywhere. And if I find some quiet time of the day while shitting (then you might wanna argue, if that's so respectful, I give you that, yada yada) but that wouldn't mean that the Lord wouldn't be able to hear me just because I'm not in church.

But I also get why people built churches. They want to be together. And a certain belief brings people together. So, why not? People from the same block come together every Sunday morning and celebrate. That's a good thing!

Religion is a good thing. I heard people saying religion is whack because in comparison to science it doesn't do anything for the world. Sure, you might get the impression that sitting on a bench with your palms pressed onto one another doesn't help anyone compared to experimenting. But there are so many charities led by churches. They collect money and send it to people in need. Or they arrange brunch for the members of the community who wanna join. They can have a good time there and meet new people, new friends, people they can open up to about their problems. And that probably helps a lot of people.
