all Michael could feel was nothing as he sat in a cold waiting room. waiting, and waiting for any news that ashton was okay, but Michael couldn't process it. he couldn't process the flashing red and blue lights, the sirens that filled the empty space of that abounded house.

he watched as ashton was pulled onto a gurney, same as luke and Aden. Michael was all alone, frozen in that one spot as he watched as two people he loved were rolled into a ambulance. he rode with luke, since the medics wouldn't allow him to ride with ashton. Luke's okay, he's now sleeping in the waiting room with Michael, bandages all over his body.

Michael didn't know what to feel as he dazed at the clock, hours and hours gone by. he was aware Aden was going to jail for a very long time. aden was charged with rape, kidnapping, and yet to know murder, if ashton makes it. Michael can't feel anything. he can't help but wonder if Ashton's gonna make it or not, there's this weight on his chest, it feels as if a ton of bricks are concaving onto his chest.

Michael can't take the silence. he can't take the pressure and worry that's flooding his mind. now that Aden's gone, it is a lot of weight off Michael's shoulder, but now he had to deal with luke, and ashton. he wouldn't know what to do if ashton doesn't make it. he'll have no one, except luke, but Michael doesn't know where they stand.

"Michael?"

Michael flinched at Luke's voice, so quiet, yet so breaking.

"baby--"

"n-no luke," Michael said shakily, "I-I."

luke wrapped his weak arms around Michael's shaking body and cooed soft sweet nothings into Michael's ear. luke watched as tears slid down Michael's cold pale skin, and luke couldn't help but frown for the boy he loved so much, he hates seeing him hurt, but it's something luke will have to deal with. he's gotta be there for Michael.

"w-what if he doesn't make-make it?" Michael questioned luke, his face turning to look at Luke's bruised and cut up face, their noses slightly touching.

"he will," luke shook his head.

"but what if he doesn't?"

"then," luke sighed, "I will be there for you every step of the way, if you want, but I would even if you didn't want to."

Michael nodded and slowly began closing his eyes, he needed sleep, it's been a while, but that was interrupted when Michael heard a lady call him and Luke's name.

"is ashton okay?" Michael said quickly, his first question.

"Michael, let her talk," luke told Michael, intertwining their hands.

the nurse sighed and motioned the boys to sit down, "I'm afraid I have bad news boys, and the slightest of good news."

Michael took a deep breath and nodded, his hand squeezing Luke's, tears slowly falling off of his cheeks onto his lap.

"I'm Jen, by the way," the young nurse smiled, "the surgery was a long and hard process, ashton flatlined many of times, the bullet was so close to his heart. he's a lucky boy. ashton pulled through the surgery, he may not be able to breath on his own, he'll need life support as long as he's in his coma--"

"a-a coma?" Michael whimpered out.

"I'm afraid so Michael, I'm so sorry boys. we're not sure how long it will last, but we know he won't recover so soon," the nurse finished, "you may see him if you'd like. we'll be keeping him in his room on life support for as long as we can."

the two boys watched as the nurse walked out of the waiting room, Michael's hopeful smile was now faded with a frown. did he wanna see ashton? did he really wanna see his best friend in that room, not being able to hold him and tell him everything was gonna be okay? or just hear that laugh that Michael craved at the most saddest times?

"do you wanna go see him Mikey?"

Michael nodded quickly, "but only for a second, then I wanna go home."

luke nodded and helped the younger boy up, his hands cold and body still shaky. luke saw how weak Michael looked, how his green eyes were now dark again, he missed the bright color he once saw when they were together. luke knows he'll see it again.

Michael's breath hitches lightly as he steps into Ashton's room, the sound of a heart monitor and breathing machine filled the small room. ashton looked peaceful on that bed, he didn't lose his light tan, his hair was still curly and golden. Michael didn't like seeing him like this though, IV's in his arms, a bandage wrapped around his chest. Michael wanted to see ashton sitting up, his deep dimples showing with his loving smile.

"I'll let you talk to him okay? I'll be outside," luke told Michael.

Michael nodded and forced a smile towards luke, how could he talk to ashton like this? could he even hear him?

Michael sat beside ashton and held his hand, his cold hand that couldn't hold back, his hand was just stiff. Michael watched as his chest slowly rises and it was killing him that he couldn't notice he was even there.

"it's me, Michael," he said lowly, maybe that will help ashton know he's there.

"I'm so sorry," Michael croaked out, his voice raw and tears already brimming his eyes, "this is all my fault. all of this wouldn't have happened if I just wouldn't have ran away. none of this would've happened if I just listened to luke, I should've stayed. I should've never stayed with aden, I should've never let him hurt me for as long as he did. I-I...I'm so sorry ash."

Michael couldn't talk anymore, he couldn't look at ashton anymore, it hurt too much. Michael stood up and walked out the door, him crashing into Luke's chest. luke sighed and wrapped his arms around Michael's back, rubbing his back slowly up and down.

"I know Michael, I know," luke told Michael, "ashton was my friend too."

"I-I wanna get out of here, can we go? please?" luke looked down at Michael's teary green eyes and nodded, "of coarse, I'll call a cab."

it took a while to get home due to the bad rain outside, Michael flinched at every clap of thunder and luke hates watching. but he loves the boy, and he's gonna be here for him all the way.

luke and Michael were cuddled on the small couch, closer than ever. Michael felt okay I'm Luke's arms, he felt warm and calm, but it's not anything new. Michael loved how luke cupped Michael's cheek and slowly moved his thumb back and forth. Michael was calm as luke softly sang a song unfamiliar to him, he finally stopped shaking, and crying. aden was finally off of his mind, for good.

I'm no angel, I'm just me

but I will love you endlessly

luke finished singing, kissing Michael's forehead softly, "I love you Michael, no matter what, okay?"

"okay, I know," Michael smiled lightly, "um luke?"

"yes?"

"can we maybe go back to that house tomorrow? y'know the one on the hill?"

"of coarse," luke chuckled lightly, "I'd actually love to, and it's peaceful. hopefully it will stop raining."

Michael smiled, he wanted to kiss luke so bad, it's been so long and he misses his soft plump lips. it's not like luke hasn't been on Michael's mind, because he has, a lot. he didn't want to break up with luke, but now they might be able to try again. Michael will talk to him about it tomorrow, but right now Michael needs luke, he needs to feel his lips.

Michael quickly attached their lips and began to kiss luke softly, luke was surprised at first, but within seconds it became pretty heated, but it was romantic.

"what was that for?" luke breathed out, face red and his grin sloppy.

Michael shrugged, "I missed you."

luke smiled and set his chin on Michael's head, "I missed you too."
