Cedric draped a heavy arm around Cho's shoulders, since their rather enjoyable lunch together he had to admit his unease of dating her had begun to settle
In the couple weeks that they had been dating, had discovered how very kind Cho was. She was sweet and intelligent and was absolutely stunning and to Cedric's surprise, he was beginning to fall for the younger Ravenclaw
Although she did seem perfect, or just about as close to as she could be, he couldn't help feeling a nagging sense of incompleteness which Cedric was hoping would fade
What she was lacking was so minuscule, yet it stood out to Cedric like a sore thumb. It was something she simply couldn't help, her one flaw...she wasn't Harry
"Are you alright Cedric?" her soft voice floated into his ears, gentle and full of care. He could tell that she was unsettled by the whole tournament, unsettled with the idea that Cedric could be competing in a potentially life threatening tournament
Although they'd only been together for a couple weeks, she seemed to take a rather over-protective stance over him, which he appreciated yet despised
He felt slightly embarrassed to suddenly long for the attitude Harry had towards the whole situation. Harry wasn't overly excited, like so many of Cedric's friends and he wasn't overly cautious, like Cho, yet he still acted respectful of Cedric's decision
His mind momentarily flashed back to that brief encounter with Harry, him sat just a few inches from the Gryffindor. So close they were practically touching, so close he could smell the faded traces of shampoo and freshly laundered clothes
Despite Cedric's original goals to distance his mind from thoughts of Harry, Cedric constantly came back to the young Gryffindor
A large factor to this increasing problem was that Harry struggled just as much to take his eyes off Cedric. This was strange as Harry had never stared, let alone glanced at Cedric beforehand. Nowadays though, when they passed each other in the halls Cedric could feel Harry's eyes follow him, he wasn't sure the reason, though he did have some suspicions...
Cedric begun notice Harry's unusual behaviour after he'd put his name into the goblet. He could feel Harry's angered gaze on him the moment Cho settles herself into his side, which led Cedric to believe Harry was either jealous of him...or jealous of Cho, and Cedric was beginning to suspect the latter
The majority of the looks Harry would give Cedric were all looks of anger and frustration, which amused Cedric as he recollected being fourteen and having an unbearable crush. But there were rare times, when Harry was isolated from his friends and clearly and under the impression Cedric was oblivious to him, when his gaze would morph into a pained expression of the deepest longing
Although Cedric was trying to ignore the fourth year, to certain extents, it was difficult to ignore these intriguing green eyed gazes Harry had taken a liking to
His mind sluggishly returned to the present, a burning look of curiosity in the firmly concerned stare Cho was giving him quickly vanished any lingering thoughts of Harry Potter
"Yeah I'm alright...just a little nervous you know" Cedric smiled kindly and retracted his arm. He decided for precautionary purposes to finish off his remaining desert with both hands, not wanting to risk having a stain on his clothes if his name was called from the goblet
