Cedric watched as his father approached Harry, making the younger boy look perfectly flustered
The sight of his father's large presence intimidating Harry made Cedric feel torn between satisfaction and guilt. He hadn't spoken to Harry in a few weeks now, rumour around the school was that they'd broken up...though Cedric wasn't sure if that was true
He stubbornly clung to his belief that Harry had to come to him and apologize, however thus far Harry hadn't made any move or approach to hint that he wanted Cedric back
Cedric could think of several reasons Harry likely hadn't spoken to him: from Harry's already awkward introverted persona to school pressure to the fact that the third task was taking place less than an hour from now...
Cedric peered over at Harry's face, it looked awkward as usual though also angry...Cedric had noticed as of late Harry always looked angry
His father didn't have any idea of his intimacies with Harry, he'd made sure to keep that very secret. His father shared the same untrusting feelings toward Harry that Matthew so often expressed to Cedric, the types of feelings that made Cedric become highly protective over the younger boy
Sensing that his father was likely boasting about him, Cedric finally made the decision to save Harry from the situation
As he slowly drew closer he heard the pride and arrogance dripping from his father's words, "...bet you're not feeling quite so full of yourself now that Cedric's caught up to you in points huh?"
"What?" Harry asked. Seeing Amos Diggory approach him had heralded a sunami of emotions Harry quite frankly didn't want to experience before the daunting task ahead
Harry was embarrassed to admit to himself that he he had failed to muster up the courage to approach Cedric and apologize, or do any socializing for that matter
Harry was still as bitter as he had been the moment he'd seen Cho and Cedric together in the library, nothing had softened his raw rage that still lingered despite the weeks that had passed
He'd done his best to avoid Cedric at all costs however he seemed to bump into him in the hallways all the time, often catching him walking with Cho
It made Harry's blood boil though he refused to engage, he didn't understand why he was the one who had to apologize...well maybe for his initial lie and avoidance of Cedric but certainly not for the fight they'd had...not for Cho
Deep down however, Harry knew that he'd have to engage with Cedric at some point if he wanted to salvage their relationship...
The sight of Cedric approaching was enough to paralyze Harry. The older boy looked put together perfectly, not really a surprise but a difficult pill for Harry to swallow nonetheless
Harry could imagine how wild and perplexed he must've looked, a stark contrast to the effortless handsomeness Cedric always seemed to carry with him
Harry had hardly slept in days, since his comfort of Cedric had diminished his nightmares had returned, always leaving him a sweaty shaky mess. His headaches had gotten so bad he'd even debated approaching Cedric to simply ask for the potion he'd told him about all the months ago, the one that supposedly helped headaches
