"You got this Dami!" Ruby said cheering on her boyfriend.
Right now, both her and Damian are in the backyard and the huntress has been teaching the boy wonder to activate his Aura at will.
Which was not really working in the Boy Wonder's favor, no matter how hard he tried he could not seem to activate his aura and Damian was too stubborn to admit that he couldn't do it.
Getting up from her spot from the ground Ruby walks over to Damian and touches his shoulder. "I think we might need to try something else." She suggested.
"No. I can do it." Damian said stubbornly.
Ruby lightly shakes her head, "Damian, it's ok if you can get it. There are other ways to help people activate their aura at will." She reasoned.
Damian sighed in annoyance at that and looked down in shame at his inability to activate his aura again, and to make matters worse is that they have been trying to do this for a week now.
He scrunches up his nose in displeasure, he then looks up at his beloved and asked, "And what exactly do you have in mind?"
"Well, sometimes emotions can be the catalyst to the unlocking of one's aura and semblance. But in your case, yours unlocked because you were worried for my safety. So why not focus on that." she suggested.
Damian looks at her in bewilderment as he takes in what she just suggested. She wants him to use the fear and anger he felt during their fight with his grandfather in order to control his aura?!
"So, if I understand this correctly, in order to control my aura you want me use the rage and fear that I felt when Ra's not only managed to injure you but was about to kill you?" he summarized.
"No. True, you were understandably angry at your grandfather and were scared that you were about to lose me but that wasn't the only factor that played in with your semblance unlocking." Ruby proclaimed.
Damian raised an eyebrow at that explanation, his anger and fear were not the only defining factor into unlocking his powers? But that does not make any sense, those were the only things he had felt during their fight.
And no matter how hard he tried he could not think of anything else that might point to the reason on why his semblance had unlocked. "Beloved, I don't understand, what else could've been the catalyst in my powers?" he questioned.
Ruby smiled and cups his cheek, "Your instinct to protect me. Yes, you were angry and scared, but ultimately, your only goal at that moment was to protect me. And your shadow reacted on those emotions to do just that."
Damian looks away from her so he could think about her suggestion and decided that it could not hurt to try. "Alright. I'll give it a try." he replied.
"Great." Ruby said and goes sits back to her spot.
Taking a deep breath, Damian sighs as he closes his eyes and concentrates on his feelings of wanting to protect Ruby.
At first nothing to seem to be happening but a minute later Damian's body was soon engulfed by the green glow of his aura and with it the lighter than air feeling he felt before.
Opening his eyes, he looks down at his hands and smiles at his success.
He then looks at Ruby who was beaming with joy at his accomplishment and before he could even blink the huntress speeds over to him and tackles him to the floor in a hug.
"You did it!" she exclaimed happily.
"Yes. I did." Damian chuckled.
He then smirks proudly and added, "But it's not that surprising for someone as exceptional as me."
