Chapter 26: No Brakes

Ruby grunts as she skids across the floor after Roman threw her.

"Wow, you are much more manageable without that oversized gardening tool of yours." Roman said smugly as he leans against his cane.

Which of course pissed Ruby off. "Go fuck yourself with that cane of yours, you mediocre thug, my weapon is not a gardening tool." She hissed as she got up and runs towards him.

Roman smiles as he went to side-step her but when he did, to his shock he was unexpectedly slashed right across the chest and nose.

The crime boss hisses in pain as he takes a step back, touches his nose for a moment before looking down at his chest to not only see a slash mark but to see that he was cut deep enough to draw blood.

And the same could be said to his nose.

Looking at Ruby, the crime boss gasped when he saw that the thing that had slashed him were two retractable blades that had sprung out and tore Ruby's sleeves.

Moving into action the White Fang members get ready to shoot the huntress but before they could Maris wrapped her chained scythe around Ruby and shocked her again but this time it only made the huntress fall to her knees.

"Good job Maris." Roman congratulated.

Maris just hums as she unwraps her weapon from Ruby and puts it back on her hip.

"Well, Well looks like little Red has a few tricks up her sleeve." He said amused.

"You know, Perry, I really needed this." He added to the only Faunus that he actually is ok with.

And Perry gives the crime boss a thumbs up.

Taking a minute to laugh at how much fun he is having he then sighs and looks down at Ruby seriously.

"But seriously...." Walking over to Ruby, Roman bends down and aims his cane right under her chin. "How'd ya find this place, Red?" he questioned.

Ruby groans in annoyance and decided that it would be wise to do a strategic withdrawal and so with that she sped off leaving rose petals in her wake.

"Huh?!" Roman exclaimed as he looks around frankly for the girl before turning around to see her. "Whoa."

Smiling, Roman stands up, spins his cane in his hand aiming the handle at Ruby. And then fires which revealed that his weapon doubles as a grappling hook, which catches her by her hood and allowing Roman to pull her back.

"You are full of surprises Red. But let me make this clear, we're not through here yet." He proclaimed.

But suddenly there's an explosion that shook the ground, looking up at where it came from Roman sighs in annoyance when he saw a patch of dirt pick up around a corner. "Oh, what the..."

He then turns his gaze to his men. "Perry, if you and the boys could take care of that? kind of in the middle of something."

Perry just lightly bows and went to investigate but before he could even take a second step another explosion went off this time it was closer.

"What is going on here?!" Roman exclaimed now realizing that whatever is happening it was not because of debris from the ceiling falling to the ground.

And it was at that moment that a third explosion along with smoke and a burst of flames could be seen as multiple White Fang members come running around the corner, some firing at an unknown enemy.

Roman narrows his eyes and wondered what was going on but he soon got his answer as Damian, Weiss, Blake, Yang, Zwei and Oobleck run around the corner, much to the crime boss's annoyance.
