It was Boxing Day and I was going to the brockmans in the afternoon.

Yesterday, I decided to actually wake up early for once. I set my alarm for 6 o'clock and ended up surprising my mum and sister when I actually appeared in the living room.

I knew my mum wanted to make a comment about 'how nice it is to see you not in your room' but that would make me go back upstairs.

We opened our presents, which by the way, I'm not telling you what I got. Then I had to play Paige's new game with her. Overall, it was actually kind of... fun! I suppose I could try to suffer hanging out with my family again..

Like usual, there was a lot going on in the Brockman household.

Karen was dreading out her 'New Years resolutions' to sue while me and Jake were sitting bored at the table.

"I will not poke my fingers in the butter,"

"I didn't know you did that... but good," Sue said.

"I will not call people idiots," Karen carried on.

"Very good," Sue wasn't paying attention now.

"Mummy will stop nagging me,"

"Yeah thats..." Sue started then realised what her daughter had said. "No, hang on, you can't make resolutions for other people,"

Karen ignored her and carried on reading out her list.

"Mummy will stop giving me cabbage,"

"No, no, you make resolutions for yourself,"

Just then, Ben came into the kitchen. Shame, I was enjoying that.

I zoned out for a minute. I was busy thinking about the burglars that had robbed the Brockmans.

"I'm quite surprised they didn't take Jake's iPod, because it was just sitting here on the computer," said Sue.

"I think the mess may have worked in our favour there," Pete added.

"It's a bit odd that they took the CD players but not the CDs..."

"Anyone who likes Phill Collins is going to be way too old and feeble to get over that gate," Jake put in.

"There's Oasis..." Pete started, looking through his CD collection. "And Coldplay, that came out last year,"

"You've no idea do you?"

"Well anyway they could have taken the CDs and sold them,"

"Yeah, like anbody buys CDs anymore," Jake said, annoyed.

"Well some people do. Some people acquire their music legally,"

"Here we go," Jake sighed. He had been downloading music onto his iPod and let's just say it wasn't exactly legal.

Then Ben's arm got stuck. He was trying to get his toy dinosaur out from behind the radiator.

"Ow! ... can't get it out! Somebody please! Ow!" He screeched.

"You shouldn't be trying to rescue Ben's stupid dinosaur, you should be trying to rescue Rusty," Karen said. "He's not a toy, he's a living hamster!"

Karen wanted Pete to take out the floorboards in case her hamster had gone underneath them.

We were now sitting the car driving to collect Frank (Jake's grandad) from the care home.

"Mum, everyone downloads for free," Jake said, trying to reason with his mother about downloading music. "If you want me to be the only kid in the world who pays for his music then maybe I should get more pocket money,"
