I've started to learn to drive. I've been taking lessons for about a month now, and I think I'm pretty good at driving if I do say so myself. The original plan was that a family member was going to teach me so that we could save money, but in the end I got a professional driving instructor - my uncle. So I think we get a family discount, but I'm not entirely sure. I mean, he was also my swimming teacher when I was younger but we were still paying those off until recently.

The funny thing about me learning to drive at this time is that Jake is also learning to drive. Pete is teaching him, but the difference with him is he's not professional. Jake's getting really annoyed by it.

J: Ugh, just had another driving 'lesson' with my dad. I don't think it's a very good idea to be tought by a family member

C: in your circumstances I agree but you see my uncle is professional.
C: Hey, maybe I could get him to teach you as well!

J: yeah just asked mum for a proper instructor but she says it's too expensive, so I don't think that's going to happen.

C: don't worry, I'll see what I can do x gotta go now love you xx

J: thanks. Love you too xx

"Kids, start cleaning up your homework," Sue said.

"So jammy," Ben said to us. "You get to do psychology. What do I get? Oxbow lakes. What the hell is an oxbow anyway? I mean-"

"Mum, can I.. mind if we look at the football?" Jake asked.

"No, we are all sitting down together for once,"

"Psychology's so interesting," Ben said.

"It is until you have to study it. Then it becomes annoying like everything else," I said.

"Yeah, but it's the study of the mind. Once you understand the mind, you can bend it to your will. Like Derren Brown, he can make people believe they're being attacked by zombies,"

"A very useful life skill. Ben, I need this cleared," Sue said again.

"And.. and career wise, psychology's practical. I will never do anything that makes me work with an oxbow lake. But I might be a psychiatrist,"

"Psychologist," Pete corrected.

"Karen! Tea!" Sue shouted upstairs. "Ben, could you lay the table please?"

Ben set to work while Sue came to talk to Jake about his driving lesson.

"How.. how do you think it went?"

"I need lessons from a paid instructor. Someone who knows what they're doing. It's very distracting to sit next to someone who's constantly slamming their foot into the floor,"

"That's a reflex, a survival instinct," Pete defended.

"And he's too vague, he says bear left, when there's loads of lefts,"

"Alright, I tell you what. why don't I take you out tomorrow?" Sue suggested.

"Look, I just.. I don't think it's a very good idea to be taught be a family member,"

"Karen! Tea! Oh, you haven't forgotten that you're taking her to a swimming match tomorrow, have you?"

"Jake, I asked my uncle if he could possible teach you as well with a discount, and he said yes," I said.

"Oh thank god for that...mum!"

"...it'll boost her self confidence.. just a second Jake," Sue said.
