The parents evening

If there's one person I really hate in this world, it's Paige. After she came home from that stupid sleepover (which, she had come home EARLY from as Karen Brockman had been there too. Sue went to collect her daughter early, noticed my sister and brought her home.) anyway, after she came home she snuck into my room and stole my diary back. How do I know that? Because she found the bloody page where id written about Jake again and showed mum. That's right, she showed mum.

So now I am only just coming to the end of being grounded for an entire month. It's not because I have a boyfriend, it's because I didn't tell mum.

"If you'd told me, it would be different! But you didn't, you've been hiding something this important for a year and a half!"

She was actually very excited about it, only she was trying hard to look more angry than happy.

You might be thinking how being grounded for 1 month doesn't make any sence, seeing as I've been hiding mine and Jake's relationship for 19 months, but that's how my mum works. I'm guessing I'm gonna have a free month then it's back to being grounded again. Great.

Finally I was able to go and watch jakes band practise again. Today, it was at school in one of the music rooms, probably because it was the year 7 parents evening. Karen was there too, so she wouldn't get in Pete and Sue's way.

While Jake and the band were setting up, she came over to talk to me.

"What's worse, severe or serius?" She asked me.

"Uhh I don't know? There the same thing Karen,"

"That's what mum said earlier. The man on the telly said terrorist threat has gone from 'serius' to 'severe'. And, am I going to get hit by lightening?"

You would have thought that by year 5 she would have stopped asking a lot of questions. Apparently that wasn't the case.

"Probably not. It's highly unlikely and it's more likely to be trees,"

"Mum said that too. So because your quite tall, you'll get hit before me, right?"

"Yeah," I mumbled.

"Do you do Michael Bublé songs?" She asked Jake.

She eventually found the lyrics of the songs they had written themselves, not Michael bublé songs. Jake snatched the lyrics away from her, but he wasn't fast enough.

"Why does he want to do that to his bitch?" She asked.

Karen's frequent questions had caused Jake's band to slow down on setting up.

It turned out that Marcus was Tanya's big brother. I didn't like Tanya very much, despite never having actually met her. Paige went on about her all the time and I think she's very easily influenced by her. It seems the same thing has happened to Karen.

"I'm going to become a catholic," she said. Oh god, I hope Paige doesn't do that.

"Really?" Marcus asked. "So what dwarf are you? She gives al her friend dwarf nicknames, y'know 'Dopey', 'Grumpy', 'Frumpy', 'Stinky', 'Clingy'... so which one are you?"

Karen was very thrown at this. She obviously didn't have one of those nicknames. I vaguely remember Paige saying something about Tanya calling her 'Wingey'. I don't think Paige knows what that means.

"I think you might be 'Clingy'," Marcus said.

"Karen, Stop getting in the way! Just, go and sit over there," Jake said, pointing to the corner. Karen went, looking a bit dazed.

I get that Jake's annoyed with her, but he doesn't have to- oh who am I kidding? If it was Paige instead of Karen I'd be fuming with her!

After they had been playing for about ten minutes, (yes, they managed to set everything up) I noticed Karen had gone. Uh oh.
