"Hi Stacey! What're you doing here?" I said, astonished as I found my Australian friend in the Brockman household.

"Oh hi Chelsea! I'm staying with Pete, he's my godfather," she replied

"Really? That's so cool! I've missed you while I've been back but it's good to see you!"

"It's good to see you too!"

"It must be quite awkward, because Karen's the only girl here and then there's the two boys," I said.

"Yeah, but it's fine. I just, get the feeling that sue doesn't like me,"

"Yeah well I had the same trouble a few years back, so you should be fine soon. Well I've got to find Jake now and we're going back to mine in a bit so I'll see you later Stacey," I said, to which Stacey nodded with a smile and I went to find Jake.

"Positive you don't want to come?" Pete asked. Him and Ben were going camping over the weekend and he was trying to convince Jake to go too. "Away from the city lights, we'll be able to see this meteor shower-"

"No, tomorrow's the deadline for my UCAS form,"

"Oops," I mumbled. You see, as we were 17 and nearing the end of year 13, we had to decide wether we wanted a gap year or wanted to go straight to university in September. Me being the idiot I was, forgot about it weeks ago. Of cource I'd thought a lot about it but I had quite made a desision yet.

'We're just going back over to Chelsea's house, won't be long," Jake said as we exited the house, but not before we heard Pete saying 'I thought he said he'd sort it out weeks ago'

"It's all under control!" Jake shouted as we got through the doorway.

"Well it's not all under control for me, I forgot all about it!"

"Well what do you want to do?"

"I dunno, I wanna go to university obviously so I can get my degrees and stuff early on rather than take a gap year, but then I want to be free from school for a little while rather than going straight to uni,"

Jake looked slightly confused. To be honest, I didn't know what I just said either.

******* Jake POV
I opened the door quietly and tried to sneak back in the house.

"Have you only just got in?" Dad said. Shit, I didn't realise he's be up this early.

"Um, someone's broken into our car. They've smashed the window," I said, trying to deflect some attention onto what I'd just found.

"Oh not again!" My plan worked for a while, because dad then said about his last time the stereo had been stolen, and then proceeded to say that the country needs more intelligent crackheads. Unfortunately, dad then remembered how late... or early? I had come in.

"What time do you call this?"

"Oh, well, I texted mum I'd be staying late at Chelsea's,"

"Right, but this is so past late that its early,"

"Dad, you've got to check the car. That's your priority,"

"I think I'll decide what's my priority-" but he was cut off by Ben, who was checking if they could still go on their stupid camping trip.

"Well..."

In the end, they did go and I'm just glad I didn't have to as well. Staying in a forest, in a tent, with dad and Ben overnight was not my idea of fun.

******* Chelsea POV
"Mum, I need the laptop," I said, going into the front room.

"No! She says I can use it afterwoods," said Paige.

"Paige, your in year 7 now. Your too old to fight over things now. And anyway, you just want to play club penguin while I need to do important things,"

"Girls, please don't argue," mum said. Honestly, she's just useless.

"But my membership runs out tomorrow and I need to make the most of it!"

"But my deadline for UCAS is tonight,"

"But you had a boy over last night. I saw him leaving this morning, that's naughty so that means I get the laptop,"

"Wha.. No! I need it because it defines wether I get into university this year or not,"

"I thought you were taking a gap year?" Mum asked. "That's what you said this morning,"

"Yeah but I changed my mind, I need to get away from this hellhole as soon as possible,"

"Hey! That's a swear word!"

"Paige, hell is not a swear word.."

"Chelsea, you can use the laptop and Paige you can use it when she's finished. In the meantime, why don't you go and do something else?"

"But I asked first!"

"Paige!"

She eventually trailed out of the room and said, "why can't I just have my own laptop?"

"Right, have you got your university application?" Mum asked. Although I could do this myself, it still felt nice to have her helping.

"Yep, right here... everyone I know whose graduated is either going to end up working at KFC or stuck in a duck costume collecting leaflets,"

"Well that not going to happen to y-"

"I know. I was just trying to find something to talk about.. since we don't really talk much.."

"Oh Chelsea, I'm sorry I've been distant these last few years. What with your dad... and I've had to focus on work an awful lot.. you know what, next weekend, do you want to go somewhere, just you and me?"

I smiled. "That'd be nice... but now we've got to do this,"

"Do you have any idea what you want to actually study?"

"I don't know... oh wait that's kind of an important part.. well, I wouldn't mind doing geography... or Italian.. or possibly... film?"

A/N I guess you'll have to wait and see what she picks...
