'Find out just what any people will quietly submit to and you have found out the exact measure of injustice and wrong which will be imposed upon them, and these will continue till they are resisted with either words or blows, or with both. The limits of tyrants are prescribed by the endurance of those whom they oppress.' -Fredrick Douglas, 1857
Black Lives Matter✊🏾
The past couple of weeks have been very important ones. I've hardly been living for that long yet I've witnessed so much already and I can't lie and say I'm not grateful for it.
We are a generation (gen Z) who has witnessed the world change in tremendous ways and I am sure this is only the beginning. The pandemic was a tough time for a lot of us. It brought uncertainty and threw a spanner in the works for some of us who were about to progress in our education.
It was mentally and physically challenging for a lot of us. Were can we find motivation when we have nothing to work towards.
Of recent the Black Lives Matter movement has resurrected. It's not a trend. It's a revolution. I am proud to say I myself am part of a generation who stood proudly for what we believe just like our ancestors did.
So for me these past weeks have been spent educating myself further and those around me also. I'm back and ready to write.
I'm fighting for my future and the futures of those who will come after me. I'd be happy to talk to anyone who is confused about anything or needs someone to talk to during these times.
If you disagree please see yourself back to the browsing page :)

"Why didn't you tell me?" Emi asked as she hugged Luna and Xavier. Luciano shrugged.
"Speak." Emi snapped uninterested by his passive behaviour as she watched the children run off to find Loai . "I can do as I please." He ground out seemingly annoyed by something.
"You wouldn't move to me so I moved to you." He said causing Emi to turn and look at him. The corner of his mouth raised slightly at the sight of her blushing.
Luciano moves forward stealing a quick kiss from Emi before waving goodbye and rushing to work.
Business in the bakery was booming. Elderly couples, young couples and teens all flocked to taste her infamous sweet treats.
The elderly enjoyed it because three little children would run around the bakery talking to them. Making them feel like their young selves.
People admired Emi. They loved watching her work. How she did everything by herself along with her now three little helpers. People wondered how a woman could be so strong and resilient.
They may not have known her and her story but the bold scar across her head was a testament to a battle she had to face wether you knew how it came to be.
She was able to look after her son and work. To some people they may question, what is so admirable about it when most women do it? Every mother is special and will shape her child's future.
So the locals were happy for her when a new wave of customers filled her bakery. Dressed corporately in suits, ties and skirts. Some came with their files in hand taking up seats as they ate and worked.
"I'll take an iced Americano." He said to the sweaty and overworked woman behind the counter. She scoffed as she served up an order.
"I'm going to run out of food if you send all your new employees here. The town may be small but I'm not the only bakery here." Emi gritted out. She was stressed and his presence was doing anything but calm her down.
"I've put out an advertisement for an employee for you." Luciano replied slightly amused by her despair. Just then a little body crashed into his legs.
"Dad" a little voice shouted as Luciano bent down to pick him up. "Loai" Luciano exclaimed trying to match the energy the little boy perpetuated. "Where did you go?" Loai asked as he snuggled into Luciano's coat.
"Work. I have to go back soon." He answered as he ran his hand through Loai's curls, stopping when his fingers got caught.
"What time are you coming by to pick them up?" Emi asked as she piped filling into the confectionery she was making.
"Actually I was hoping you could come and drop them off at my hotel room." He replied as Emi handed him a box full of cannolis.
"You just want me in your bedroom again." She responded a smirk gracing her face.
"Don't gas yourself I have papers for you to sign."
