Saving the Monster

Chapter 21

"Firstly I want to welcome you all here. After the battle of Crait we thought that the galaxy had given up, that it had lost hope. But having you all here proves that wrong, it proves that we can still win, that we can still topple the First Order!" Leias voice, still strong despite her advancing years, echoed around the main control room, a cheer erupting from the assembled crowd in response.

Rey looked around at the sea of faces, and every single one had the same look in their eyes.  They would train the new members to fight, they would scavenge more ships, and then then they would attack, attack the First Order, its leaders, him.

Rey blinked hard, trying to focus as Leia began speaking again, "Finn and Rose, I want you in charge of training the new members, Poe, I want you showing them the ropes with what we have so far....we only currently have a couple of x-wings....."

"I can maybe help with that".  Everyone turned to find Zorri, unmasked with Babu by her side, "Myself and Babu have contacts on Lotho Miner....."

Poes head swivelled, "Lotho Miner?  Who do you know there?"

Zorri turned to face him, her hand on her hip, "Plenty happened after you left"

Poe stepped forwards, "Oh yeah, like what?"

It was Leias turn to step forwards now, her hands stretched out, separating Poe and Zorri, "We need solutions Poe, not arguments.  Zorri please take one of the ships, see what you can find". Zorri nodded, pausing to raise an eyebrow at Poe before she left the room, Babu following her as he chuckled softly to himself.  "And Rey..."

Rey's head snapped up, her thoughts broken by Leias voice, "Rey I want you to tell me everything you know about the First Order"

Rey straightened, blinking hard, "With all due respect General, what makes you think that I know anything about the First Order?

Faces swivelled to look at Rey and Leias brow creased, "You were there were you not, on the First Order ship, the ship that Admiral Holdo managed to destroy?"

Rey nodded slowly, "I was, but I saw very little of how the First Order operates, Rose and Finn could probably tell you more"

"Ok....well then that's another job for you two" Leia said, glancing at Finn and Rose and then back to Rey, "Rey we need to talk"
