A knock at the door and they both spun around, Rey's hand still on his shoulder, his still on her hip. Their eyes met for a moment and Kylo swallowed hard, battling to even out his erratic breathing."Yes?" He said as evenly as possible, stepping back finally from Rey. Rey missed the weight and heat of his hand almost immediately.
"Supreme Leader, the resistance prisoner is ready for questioning, interrogation room five"
Rey's brow creased and she looked at him. He avoided her gaze, choosing instead to smooth his ruffled tunic, "Very good, I will be along straight away"
"Very good Supreme Leader", and then the sound of boots marching away down the hall.
Rey reached out, touching his arm, turning Kylo to face her, "Ben what's going on? What resistance prisoner?" When he didn't respond Rey squeezed his arm, "Ben?"
He turned slowly, his eyes meeting hers, "A pilot, he was shot down but survived"
Rey's eyes widened, "Please I need to see them...I.."
"Why? Why do you need to see them?". Kylos voice was harsh when he spoke and Rey shrunk away from him,
"Because we thought that we had lost someone dear to us, I owe it to my people to find out".
What Kylo did next caused a frightened little cry to leave Rey's lips. He lunged towards her, his finger pointed into her face, his eyes wild, "You don't owe them anything! You say they're your people but they left you out in the cold. Wake up Rey, look at yourself, you're still trying to be like them. You're not like them, not all all!"
Rey straightened, cross with herself for shrinking back from him, "You think I'm more like you? Well I'm not, I'm nothing like you! The things you've done...the choices you made"
Kylo exhaled sharply, "You are the same as me, you can't deny that Rey, you can't". His voice had softened now but Rey stood firm, she knew deep down that he was right, they both had darkness inside them but right now she was determined not to acknowledge that fact. She still had a chance to do what was right.
"I want to see the prisoner Ben, take me to him". Rey held his eye contact until finally, looking defeated, he nodded and pressed the button next to the door.
