[HIATUS]
Book #2 of the "My Sunshine" series (read that first)
Back from a near death experience, you and Rosé discover your love goes back way further than you realized. You begin a new chapter of your life together with her in Seoul. You both swea...
You broke through the barrier of cascading water into a dark, empty space. You moved carefully forward through the waist-high water, unable to see anything in front of you.
You suddenly felt Rosie take your hand which startled you. She led you forward into the darkness behind the waterfall. You were surprised at the amount of space there was back here. The roaring sound faded and your eyes slowly adjusted to the darkness.
"(Y/n)," she breathed. "Look."

You were in an underground cavern. It was astonishing. In here the waterfall's sound was muffled in the distance and the water was calm.
"Isn't it beautiful (y/n)?" Rosie gushed. It was beautiful - tranquil and serene, as if you were in another world back here. But something about it seeed odd to you.
"It really is. But it's weird, it looks almost... man made?"
A sudden realization hit her. "Oh! I might know what this is... We're pretty far north of Seoul right?"
You nodded. The falls were about as far north as you could go in this country.
"I think these might be old mining tunnels - we learned about it in school!"
"But didn't you stop school to become a trainee?"
"Not exactly, we just did our classes online instead. But (y/n)!" she exclaimed, excited to share what she'd learned. "I think I know what this is! Back when Korea was unified, before the split into north and south, there was a huge mining complex in the middle of the country. After winning World War 2 in 1945, the Allies had freed Korea from Japanese reign. They decided to split the country into North Korea and South Korea; the Soviet Union would occupy the north, and America would take the south. The border was set up along the 38th parallel, which crossed right over top all these mines. During the Korean War, the mining tunnels were used and even expanded in some places to sneak troops across the border. Even after the war ended in 1953, North Korea continued to use the tunnels for spying. It's thought that they're almost all closed off now, but every once in while the government finds a new one."
Her eyes gleamed as she finished her history lesson. She seemed proud of herself for remembering all that.
"Wow, that's super interesting. You really know your stuff huh Chae."
She tried to hide her smile. "Yes. I was a good student" she said shyly.
"So if this is one of these tunnels... how far do you think it goes?"
"Probably not far. They're usually all blocked off."
"Should we have a look?"
Your eyes met, and you both had the same mischievous looks as you did the first time you decided to ignore the warning sign to climb the cliffs.
"Ok. Let's go!"
It was so fun to have a girlfriend that was down for adventure, and didn't complain about how she'd rather be in a salon or mall all day. She enjoyed those things too of course, but she was not your ordinary girl. It was fun exploring with her again just like you two used to do when you were little.
