You walked silently along with the procession, your face completely drained of emotion. Who would've thought just walking could be so hard. Left foot, right foot, left foot, right foot. It was all you could do to keep going.
People dressed in black surrounded you as you walked into the church, but you avoided making eye contact with anyone. The speakers went up to the stand one by one. You forcefully numbed yourself inside, supressing the violent pain that was threatening to choke your every fiber.
As you gave your speech you did your best to entirely detach yourself from the words you had written on the page. It was the only way to deliver it without breaking.
"Her positivity touched everyone who met her. It didn't matter who you were, where you came from, or even if you were mean to her - she still treated everyone with unconditional kindness. I can sincerely say she was the most genuine, loving person I've ever known. She was a precious and beloved daughter, sister, friend and..."
You choked up. It was right there - the pain, knocking at your door. It could come in and crush you at any minute. But you had to finish your speech.
"...and girlfriend. Roseanne Park, you will be deeply missed. I'll always love you my Rosie. Until the day we meet again."
And there it was: the agony, the cruelty, the unfairness at losing the best thing in your world, hitting you like a bullet train. You covered your face and quickly left the microphone stand. The other funeral goers stared as you hurried to the back of the church and out the door, but they gave you space.
Rosie was gone. You fell to the grass and cried, gashes opening in your heart to release all of the searing pain that was eating you up inside. You heaved so violently that you weren't even in control of your body, you were just at it's mercy. At the devil's mercy.
"(Y/n)?" You felt a gentle hand on your shoulder. "Are you alright?"
You couldn't have pulled together words even if you wanted to.
"(Y/n), please talk to me" the voice said again. You would've been so mad that this person couldn't just leave you alone, that this person insisted you speak to them. But you couldn't; there was something about the voice that could never make you upset. It was your favorite sound in the world.
"(Y/n), my love, are you ok?"
You woke up to see a worried looking Rosie beside you in bed. You were flooded with emotions; shock, love, confusion, joy, but above all relief. You crashed your body into Rosie's, gripping her as if your life depended on it.
"Oh! (Y/n)!" You had startled her. She had no idea what was going on, but she held you tightly as well. "Baby are you alright? I'm sorry, but I'm terribly confused right now."
You looked at her sweet innocent face and smiled as your tears subsided.
"Yeah. I'm ok now. I just had a bad dream."
"What was your dream?"
"I - I dreamed I'd lost you. That you'd... died."
You pulled her in close again and she squeezed you back, returning your clinginess.
"Oh I'm sorry (y/n)" she said lovingly, "But don't worry my love, I'm right here." She kissed your forehead and you drifted back to sleep peacefully.
The next morning you heard Rosie outside the bedroom talking to her manager on the phone. It was finally time to face reality: everyone knew you were dating Rosé from Blackpink - and they were going crazy.
When you finally turned your phone on it pinged constantly for over a minute as the notifications came in. You groaned and threw it into the laundry basket so you could go back to sleep.
